Small features you wish they've snuck into the update

Sigh... Dr. Shrunk. Either bring him back or bring his son or daughter that is mentioned in his jokes in previous games, similarly to how Nat has Flick and Joan has Daisy Mae. We still don't have the shrunk funk shuffle and there's almost an entire half page left on the reactions list. Maybe we could even get more through him. I really miss his silly jokes and he was my favorite character in New Leaf, I even named my real life axolotl after him. Please come back, Dr. Shrunk <3

Ugh I would also love Shrunk or a young version as well! I discovered axolotls because of Shrunk and I would actually like to see a cuter version of an axolotl ^_^

Definitely wished they make bulk crafting/buying, meaning using a quantity picker, not using the stupid bulk thing they made for buying bushes. As well as fixing the Able Sister's changeroom. At least I basically have all the clothes I want so I never buy anything there anymore.

Maybe being able to tan. I know we can change color already in the mirror. I would like to be able to tan like before. Naturally.

pretty much everything that i’m hoping for has already been mentioned, but i’ll chime in anyways.

i haven’t bought anything from able’s in forever, but i’d still love an “add to cart” option.
the roost’s part-time job minigame and takeout coffee from new leaf.
i’m not sure if this counts as a feature or not, but i’d love if the tropical and perfect fruits from new leaf were back! maybe leif could start selling them, or you could find them on the mysterious islands that kapp’n takes you to? :’o
i am literally begging to be able to put diy cards into storage. it makes no sense that we’re able to put things like literal living creatures and lighthouses into our storage, but not tiny diy cards. 😭
being able to order more than 5 items from your catalog per day.
not sure if this counts as a feature either, but i’d love a few new nm achievements to work towards completing! maybe there could be one for how many homes you decorate with hhp?
with the addition of cooking, i’d love if each villager had a favourite and least favourite food! i’d also love to be able to bring them soup when they’re sick.

1- Being able to have two more houses (villagers, not players) on the island

2- Shopping cart on Able Sisters

3- Being able to put rugs outside

4- This would always be near impossible for them to add, but I would love if we could be able to rotate, or at least tilt the camera on an angle (similar to how it looks like when you open a letter).

Definitely shopping cart for the able sisters and nooks, ordering nook mile items in qualities, bulk crafting, faster way to place and remove paths, perfect fruits...and I'm sure there's more but can't remember rn lol

- Not being able to lay path 2 or 3 squares at a time
- Changing the colour of the town hall cause I don't like the purple roof with orangey bricks
- More design slots
- Maybe a lawn mower item for when you want to destroy large areas with flowers, instead of having to dig them up one by one
god this just made me remember another two little things i'd do anything for. being able to raise/lower/flood/un-flood big selections of land at once please!!! and the ability to choose the sound your footsteps make on custom paths (or even for them to retain the sound of the regular path underneath.....i love the shoes on stone clonk clonk clonk ok)

Access to the 4th level with the perma-ladders/vines. - we know it works fine, just let us easily decorate properly up there.

It’s an interesting question because Nintendo was pretty clear that there is more in the 2.0 update than they were able to show in the Direct.

My thinking is most of these extra features will be either: A) very small features that weren’t worth showing in a Direct because they wouldn’t be as exciting for most people, or B) larger features that might be harder to find or obtain, not wanting to show things in the Direct that some players might not ever see when they update their game.

My feeling is a number of interesting things are still possible. Some have been listed already in this thread. Other features have been found in datamines, which have now proven to be more correct than wrong as almost every datamined major feature has now been added to the game.
  • New fruits and vegetables beyond what was already shown. Nintendo said explicitly that there will be more vegetables than we’ve seen. Dataminer’s have found entries for squash in the past.
  • Fertilizer seems like it might be sold by Leif on Harv’s island.
  • Perfect fruit could return and has been datamined before.
  • More furniture than what was shown. This one is practically a given on some level.
  • A third upgrade to Nooks Cranny, which has been datamined more than once. Would be a good time to add an upgrade to their shop with all the new furniture available now.
  • A museum shop, likely opposite to the Café on the second floor. Less sure of this one though.
  • Katrina visiting the island occasionally in her own boat at the same spot Redd’s boat visits.
  • The return of the luck mechanic and fortune items have been datamined.
  • New lines for Isabel’s public announcements have been datamined in the past.
  • Unused changes to Museum Day have been datamined before.
  • More villager dialogue and animations. We’ve already seen some in the Happy Home Paradise, DLC, but we don’t really know how much of that will also apply to our own island yet. Jobs will be probably be exclusive to the Archipelago though.
  • I’d also like to see options to customize the appearance of the town hall and the airport, even just a little. I miss this from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and felt it added a bit of a different vibe to each town. (I used to love the ‘modern’ option for my old town.)
I think most of these are small enough or possibly difficult enough to obtain that there’s a chance of seeing these in the 2.0. update. Of course, I doubt all of these will be in, or maybe none, who knows.

As for things I actually don’t expect, for some reason, I doubt there will be many of the requested ‘quality of life’ updates many of us want. I get the impression they’ve shown most of what we’re getting there. It seems to me like a lot of the game intentionally left out some of those features by design to slow the game down. (Though I still feel we should at least be able to batch craft fish bait and probably some of the new cooking stuff too.)

I also think there will be no new fossils, bugs, or fish. That seems to be something Nintendo reserves exclusively for the next entry in the series. Mini-games also seem major enough that they would probably have been in the Direct if they were included in the 2.0 update. It seems there will be no new clothing either, as none were spotted in the Direct. And as of right now, it does not seem like we will be able to build any new buildings on our island, which is a little disappointing, but at least we’re getting back most of the NPCs on Harv’s island.

Tools not breaking. That’s it. Nothing fancy. Just being able to fish or catch bugs or move plants without using a gazillion tools. Tool durability was without doubt the worst thing they introduced into the game.

I totally agree. I remember thinking to myself early on, “well it probably just breaks because it’s ‘flimsy,’ right?” Nope. They all break. Even golden tools break.

I don’t mind earlier tools breaking, as part of progression in the game; but I feel it only punishes those of us who stick with the game for the long-haul. It’s one of the little things that makes the game pretty frustrating to play sometimes.

I think they should compromise and make golden tools last at least 100 uses or something like that. As it is, there’s really only two practical tiers of tools in terms of actual quality.

Being able to store DIY cards in our inventory would be so nice! And to be able to say no to receiving DIY recipes you already know from your villagers... It would also be really cool if they had brought back the ATM card from City Folk. That way (in theory!) you could just carry the card around and not need to carry bells in your pockets to buy things at Nook's Cranny or the Able Sisters. I feel like that was pretty swell in CF.

Like I don't even mind non-golden tools breaking. I remember thinking, "Oh, SURELY the golden tools won't break, considering how hard you have to work to GET the golden tools... right?" And I was truly baffled to find out that, yes, even the golden tools break. Do not want.

Being able to turn down taking DIYs that I already have would be great! I truly tried to trade the DIYs that I have with my friends, but every extra DIY I'd get, they also already had. So I'd just sell them. I know they did this system to encourage players to trade DIYs with each other but I really don't think it's working like they intended/like they thought.

SOme of these do sound like cool ideas, but I feel like literally no matter what Nintendo does people will always complain and want more. Like literally, no matter what there will always be some "oh but if we could do thisssss it would be so much easier" I mean no duh, but it takes the fun out a bit to add in so much unnecessary stuff, deal with a challenge once in awhile. I'm pretty happy with the huge update we will be getting.
