So the next achievement on my list to go finish is Smile Isle.

And it's going frustrating slow, I played for several hours last night and only got 3 villagers requests.

Is there any way to speed this up, any tips or tricks from those who completed it?

Many many thanks!

This one will take forever for me because I only help them with lost items, I always decline the other favours because I don't want them wearing random stuff or redecorating their houses. I suppose you could time travel and keep waiting for them to ping you, but it would still take a long time. I'd just forget about it for now and let it happen when it happens naturally.

From what I remember of what I read, you can get 2 requests an hour so you just have to keep pestering your villagers.

Well Good thing pestering is what I'm best at.

Oh, maybe I'm confusing it with the thought bubble, I thought they pinged you to ask you to catch them a fish etc.
I've got a couple of requests from the thought bubbles mostly deliveries.

The biggest tip is to farm tasks from villagers you don't care about keeping original. Many of the tasks involve catching fish or bugs, which they'll display, or selling them some item from your inventory, or delivering something to another villager. It's a lot easier to go through with these if you don't actually care about what the villager's house or wardrobe is going to look like. If you want to keep all of your villagers original, the only way to do that is by waiting for lost items and for them to get sick so you can deliver medicine which takes a lot longer.

As an aside, how long do villagers hang onto request?

Also is only one request active at a time?

One requested a fairly rare insect that I'm probably won't have time to hunt down this morning.

Since you got it this morning, you should have until the end of the day, I think.

Also I believe you can have more than one request active at a time, depending on what they are. I seem to remember having a lost item and a delivery in my inventory at the same time.

Same, but remember treasure hunts and giving medicine when they're sick also counts towards the Smile Isle reward

Really , I had no idea the treasure hunts count. Do they still count even if you don’t find it in time?

Good question, but I'm not sure. I have only not found the treasure once a long time ago and I didn't look to see if it updated my points. I'm guessing it doesn't since it isn't a completed task, but can't say for certain.

I have not found them twice before time ran out. I eventually found them and returned it both times. They were happy I returned it but not sure if that would count. Will have to check next time thanks.

I'm also going for Smile Isle at the moment. I have 85 of them left! We'll get there, some day. :D

I'm skeptical of the 'only two requests per hour' rule, I also read that somewhere but I've yet to try to disprove it because talking to villagers for that long is not fun. Usually I just do one or two now, then one or two more in a few hours, and so on. It's the only way I'm going to be able to keep the motivation to do this (although I will need maybe two or three more months).

One interesting thing I did notice, is that I've done so many requests at this point, yet my villagers and their homes seem mostly untouched. You'd expect that, after 215 favours, their houses would be all messed up? It's what I expected, and the plan was to fix their homes after I get the achievement. But none of them are displaying any bugs or fish, I know that for sure, and wardrobe issues have been rare.

Current hypothesis: Could it be that only requests that you get from direct pings give them new items to wear or display? Most deliveries I do, the villager just straight up gives me the item inside or asks me to guess what it is (furniture/clothing, I always pick clothing to be safe, because they'll give it to me instead). I'm going to have to keep track of this, I guess.

It's either that, or the chance of them displaying or wearing an item is just very, very low. If someone else is also comfortable with gifting their villagers stuff, I'd love to hear your experiences. Maybe I'm just lucky?

I've been working on this for over a month. I get an average of two a day. I now have 15 to go. I wish I had started working on this a year ago because it does take some time. Hang in there.😄
