So I work as a nanny, and over the weekend I drove my kids all over town to run some errands with me since we had some time to kill. I have a huge purse so a lot of the time I don't bring it in with me places, it's just a big bag to throw all of my crap in when I'm going somewhere. It usually just sits in my passenger seat and I don't think anything of it.

But anyway, later that night once I was home I tore my car apart looking for my ds case and it was nowhere to be found. I realized I had left my passenger door open all day (I have a two door car) so someone probably just had to open my door and dig around in my purse. Since I had my wallet with me, the only thing worth stealing was my 3DS and the massive collection of games I've amassed over the years. It was definitely in my car before I started running errands and since I had two relatively small children with me I wasn't thinking about anything like that at all.

I'm just annoyed it happened at all. It was a HHD New 3DS, and I had customized the plates with a venusaur (kinda like the Red/Blue faceplates for the other version). It was pretty special to me sentimental wise, I can afford to replace it but it's just not going to be the same you know?

So does anyone else have any losing a console stories? I just needed to vent and be bummed about it for a while.:(

Wow, that's horrible. Did the area you happened to park in have any cameras? If it did then maybe you can ask the owners if they can do you the favor of replaying the video footage to see if anyone recognises the person who went through your stuff. (I don't know where you parked your car though and I don't know if you'd feel embarrassed to do this for a 3DS.)

I don't know how I'd react if I lost an HHD New 3DS. Those things aren't cheap. I almost lost my DS lite once in a store because I liked carrying my DS everywhere to play and I left it in a changing room by accident, but when I asked around for it, luckily the lady who took it was kind enough to give it back, most people would just pretend they haven't seen it. Another time I almost lost my 3DS in an airport and, yet again a kind lady told me I was about to leave my stuff behind. Ever since then, I decided to carry my items in a backpack that I never take off and I carry an inexpensive, half broken 2DS with me with only one game on it im case if I do lose it for any reason, it won't be a major loss. Never carry all your games with you or anything valuable if you travel a lot. As tempting as it might be, it's not worth the loss.

I'm so sorry that happened to you; it happens though and you were working at the time so it's understandable. Glad you and the kids are safe. Being robbed while out and out. . .scary.

Anyway, as a kid I forgot my bag of game cartridges at a restaurant. We went back to the restaurant to see if it was still there but someone had taken it. :/ Pretty sure I cried about it since one of them was my favorite at the time: Pok?mon Sapphire.

I do understand the sentimentality about it. I've lost other non-gaming related items that held so much value to me because of the nostalgia or sender/gift giver involved. <3

That's terrible! It's a shame people would go and do something like that!

I nearly lost my first DS once at the doctors office but luckily they the employees there it with them and my dad picked it up on his way home from work. I don't recall anything else ever getting lost or stolen in public except my Y version at my grandmother's house. HOPEFULLY my uncle didn't steal it!
