So I'm kinda thinking about getting a drawing tablet. Been using Colors 3D on my 3DS but it's frustrating me because the exporter horribly butchers the image quality (you can look at my most recent post in my art gallery for reference). I'm working on another drawing in Colors 3D right now, and I'm dreading the fact that the image quality will be worse.

I probably won't be getting a drawing tablet anytime soon because they're so expensive. But I would like some recommendations for that, as well as software, so I can think about it. Until I can afford one I'll probably touch up my drawings in GIMP.

I would appreciate any input, thank you! :)

Definitely check out the Drawing Tablets on Amazon. A few (and the one I brought) also comes with 3 programs + Bluetooth, for a total of 199$. I bit expensive if you're not working a job or not using christmas money but there's also some tablets for just 50$ for the tablet solo if that's more up your alley. I'd send links but I actually don't know if you're allowed to do that and don't wanna risk it looking like I'm spamming. Search "Wacom" or "Tablet" on Amazon and you should find most of what I've been talking about easily. Good luck!

I managed to get a Wacom Intuos for ?50 - it's quite small but does the job! Perfect for beginners.

As for drawing programs, you could try a free photoshop trial or even download PaintTool Sai. I'd probably recommend the latter for a beginner as it's kind of made for drawing and there are so many easy tutorials you can follow on YouTube for setting up brushes etc. c:

Oooh! I sometimes still use Colors 3D. :) it’s a fun little app. But, as suggested by other users, I also recommend Wacom Intuos tablet! Although I now use a Cintiq, my old Intuos from 2015 still works just like a charm!

When I first started drawing digitally, I used a wacom intuos draw, and the program medibang paint. A lot of people recommed Krita as well. I found this to be a very realiable tool set when I first started.

I wouldn't recommend against getting a huion, which is a more affordable company than wacom, I've really only heard people who are sponsored by them recommened it (but the recommendations are always good). For the base drawing tablet from wacom, I think it will be a little more expensive than if you decided to go with huion, but I do think that generally, wacom tends to be a pretty reliable company.

For an affordable tablet, look into getting a huion tablet, tons of people recommend it, but if your willing to spend little extra cash for reliability, Wacom.

(also, if in the future you decided that you want to keep drawing digitally, I highly recommend getting an intuos pro medium. It's super reliable, and should last you years, especially now that they have replacable drawing surfaces for them. You can just buy a new one if it gets damaged, which unless it gets into some bad accident, I don't think that should happen. But only if you know you end up loving digital because it's about $350)
