Speculating on hobbies for 'lost' villagers!

Sorry about the long post ahead! Skip to the last line for a TL;DR if need be
(but I did add pictures to make it less boring lol)

With the news of the Sanrio villagers coming to New Horizons in a few weeks, I've been speculating about what returning villagers will likely end up with: hobbies!
Here's a few of my guesses for villagers who didn't make it into New Horizons at release!

Sanrio:

Rilla- Fitness? I'm guessing this only because of every other gorilla. Though it'd be interesting to see her break the mold with something like music!

Toby- Nature? From an outsider's perspective, he looks the sort. But then, there's O'Hare with the same personality/hobby/possibly even subtype...
No idea on the others. The first I've heard of most of these Sanrio characters is through their villager counterpart!

(some) Nintendo crossovers: (crediting @N a t for the sprites!)

Cece/Viché- Music. Based off the Squid Sisters?! If not, they'd probably end up fashion like Chrissy/Francine.

Inkwell- Play or Fitness. IDK, I guess those two hobbies remind me the most of Splatoon's gameplay?

Ganon- Fitness. I get frantic 'gotta-beat-Link' vibes from the idea of him pumping iron

Wolf Link- Education or Nature. I've never played Twilight Princess but I do know Wolf Link's gimmick was heightened perception.
I can imagine him sticking his nose into things with either a magnifying glass or a book!

Medli- Play? I know she played music, too, but all I remember about her character in Wind Waker was the throwing-her-around puzzle XD

Epona- Play. Seems fitting for her of all horses to be galloping around!
Disclaimer: I'm not a TLOZ aficionado, and here I am with a guess for all of them? O_O

Bygones from the GC era (and some of my personal favourites):

Woolio- If smug, Music. If jock, Music or......Fitness. I can't exactly see him with the Rimmed Glasses/magnifying glass, you know?

Rio- Music or....Fashion. She was Carnival way before Pavé came onto the scene!

Flash (if smug)- Nature. The cranky-turned-smug islanders have it as a hobby. Heck, even as a cranky, he'd still fit with the hobby!

Otis- Nature. I see him fitting in with the likes of the current Lazies with the hobby.

Madam Rosa- Fashion, even if her English name doesn't end up as elaborate.

Joe- I wouldn't be against Joe with Education even though I've never experienced him!

Flossie- If peppy, Fashion or Play? (I like her, but IMO, she'd be one peppy mouse too many) If uchi, Play?

Poko- Play. He's Ike's son, and I imagine him bolting around like a rampant child


I could keep going but this post is long enough!
(TL;DR) Let's hear some ideas of what hobbies missing villagers could fit in with, if/when they come to NH!

Pigleg - make him music cuz pirates sing shanties.

Rhoda and Sue E. both just seem like they'd have fashion. I didn't particularly like either of these villagers but I do remember having them.

I also had Woolio but OP covered him.

This seems pretty accurate to what they would all do, I hope they bring them all back. More villagers is always a good thing in my mind.

Btw, a bit off topic, I hope they bring Cece and Viche, I’ve never played Splatoon, but I think their designs are really great! Plus I just really like cute sibling villagers like Chrissy and Francine.

I could have gone on and tried to figure out hobbies for every ACGC-era villager, but I don't have firsthand experience with all of them, and my OP was already on its way to becoming a novel

SAME! I would totally be down for Rilla having fitness! I've had Agent S and Audie before and loved their peppy + fitness insanity!
Too bad it's not a particularly liked hobby; I noticed Audie's working out can be a turnoff for some
That's why I suggested music as an alternate (but IMO, I'd love fitness)

I'm not really into Splatoon either, but having the two of them in NL:WA was fun! (until it turned out they were stuck in my town because they're amiibo )
Thankfully that's not a thing anymore! It'd be nice to see them again without the stuck-like-glue effect hehe

Yep! The three I know off the top of my head are Flip, Sprocket, and Rory!
I've actually got Sprocket on my main island right now (his house is even a band house with nothing but instruments )
On the topic of jocks with rare/unusual hobbies, Cobb is the only one with education!

bow - playing 100%. i miss him so much. :’(

lulu - nature! i think she’d look adorable while watering her flowers,, even though she’s already adorable 24/7. <3

Bow and Meow are some of the most unique designs, even among the robot villagers! I’ll never really understand why they cut villagers, all of them have their fans for the most part and it’s not like more villagers is a problem.

bow and meow are actually based off of the bowlingual and meowlingual devices so i’m guessing that they were crossover villagers that nintendo no longer has the rights to. they’re 2 of my all-time favourites though and i’m really hoping they’ll come back one day. :’>

Oh, then I suppose that explains their situation, I had no idea it was a crossover, just thought they were robots for all these years whenever I saw a pic haha.
Well I hope they can do something to be able to use them again, they certainly have fans such as yourself who love them!

It's rough that there's so many villagers that had such an obscure, brief run in the series
Bow and Meow really had creative, unique designs! I can just imagine the potential for their LED faces in NH (darker/no light in the daylight? glowing backlight at night? ooh that'd be rad!)

On the same line of fat-chance old collabs, there's Nindori!

(TIL apparently one of my birthday buddies!)
IIRC, he's the mascot for Nintendo Dream, a Japanese magazine.
If he came back, I fear he'd become some crazy rare Japan-exclusive amiibo-only villager (distributed like the CP Isabelle/KK cards)

It's all the same to me, exercising, fitness, sport. The other main hobby is play. But it seems there's a small number of villagers who can have others.
