Speculation- Any ideas on How other buildings with unlock?

In new leaf, unlocking more shops/buildings had a time element and/or spending certain amount of bell at certain places. Initially doesn't seem possible because of our deserted island of just the residence services and the airport. I believe there will be a time element but combined with something else but I don't know. Any Thoughts?
 
I think that the shop will be upgradable again, and it wouldn't surprise me if there are time/bell-spending elements in unlocking buildings like Brewster's (if such buildings appear).
 
It seemed implied in some of the earlier info that we’d unlock things by “developing” our Island. Maybe building some structures (or even crafting?) unlocks others?

and maybe nook’s cranny/the able sisters will unlock after selling/buying a certain amount of things. or maybe some will even be unlocked with nook miles?
 
The most obvious is likely after so many days, with various extras needing to be done.

- We know Tom Nook will accept donations of Fossils so perhaps you need so many days to pass, plus a certain number of donations handed in.

- Nook's Cranny is probably obvious as well, spend a certain amount of Bells at Resident Services.

- Able Sisters is a little difficult. Perhaps it'll be tied to Nook's Cranny, or perhaps it'll just unlock after so many days. Perhaps its tied to Label's random visits to your island, and when she visits you can convince her to bring her sisters in and build a shop?

- Campground... perhaps you just have Tom Nook build it?

Has it been confirmed that we can sell things before the store shows up? I mean, I assume there's a way, but has Nintendo revealed that yet?

We've been shown footage of the Player buying items and selling items at Timmy/Tommy in Resident Services numerous times.
 
Nah I don't think it's time based maybe a combination. Like some days and house, bugs/fish and then you can unlock them with nook miles? Who knows :) I am excited to find out!
 
I think it makes sense for shops to appear once the island is more habitable, I just hope we don't have to wait at least 10 days for each shop again. I'd rather have goals like "earn 100.000 bells" or "catch 100 fish" and progress the island by my own gameplay.
 
I really hope it's not RNG based like PWPs being requested in NL. That was awful.
 
Probably spending money at resident services and/or crafting lots of things for the island.

Also time. Like you get to build nooks cranny but have to wait a week after that to build the able sisters.

That would be awful!

Definity agree that it would be nicer to be able to progress our game by playing more of it, not just capping us with limits that encourage some players to time travel
 
I agree it’ll probably be a fusion of time and completition (selling goods, maybe donating stuff). I also think some buildings, like the Caf?, could very well be back in the museum.
 
I could see some upgrades working in material donations as well as bell donations, now that we have the whole crafting element!
Otherwise I'm sure there'll be some combinations of time spent in the game & bells spent in the stores. \o/
 
I know you can donate bugs and fish to Tom Nook before you get the museum.. maybe you to donate him x amount before he?s like ?okay we need a place to put all this? and then he enlists the helps of Blathers and Celeste.

I think it will be based on days in the game and maybe as villagers move in you will unlock new shops.
 
I can imagine the shops will be unlocked after lots of different things that you do on the island. One would be the donation of bugs, fish, and fossils to Tom Nook, another would be the amount/and or bell amount of things you buy and sell to either Timmy or Tommy (can't remember which one was the one selling things in Resident Services), more villagers moving into the island, and probably the amount of things being crafted and placed on the island.

Those are just my guesses to what will unlock the shops. :)
