Splatoon Splatoon 1, 2, & 3 Announcement Trailer Discussion

Now that we have the trailer for Splatoon 3 I felt like being nostalgic and taking a look back at the announcement trailers for the previous games as well. Boy does it take me back.

Did you see them live?
What were your initial thoughts/reactions?

For me I actually saw all three of them revealed live.

The first one captured my interest for sure as I loved the characters as well as the music and style of the game. Though the fact it was a shooter made me initially pass on wanting the game as I don’t enjoy them. I later played the test fire demo and that quickly changed my mind though haha. I already had a Wii U so I got the game at launch.

The second one was during the reveal of the Nintendo Switch itself. I thought the Switch was a cool system but I was fine with not getting it for a while... or so I thought lol. During the Splatoon segment I knew it was Splatoon as soon as I saw the first shot before even showing the inklings. My hype was through the roof. So much for not needing a Switch ASAP lol. Unfortunately I was unable to get a Switch until April so I missed out on the test fire (which was on my birthday to add insult to injury) but at least I had one before the game launched.

Finally for Splatoon 3 I was entirely blindsided. I didn’t even think about Splatoon at all leading up to the direct. The first few shots of the desert had me thinking of other games entirely that I had no interest in. Once the inkling and small fry were shown I was basically like “WHHAAAAT!? No Way!” Though I was thinking it would likely be a spin off game or something. Until they slapped Splatoon 3 across the screen that is. What a reveal Nintendo I gotta say haha.

I remember sitting on my living room floor watching E3 and Splatoon was shown for the first time. My family thought it was dumb and I laughed along saying "yeah, it's really stupid..."
immediately after the direct i begged for the game.

When Splatoon 2 was shown for the first time, before the direct had started, I thought, "wow, hopefully they don't announce Splatoon 2, cause I just got Splatoon 1!"
Little did I know, Splatoon 2 was being announced in the direct. I was ecstatic, but angry. At least I got this game 6 months after release instead of being a year and a half late to the party.

Finally, Splatoon 3. I DIDN'T expect ANY Splatoon news when me and my dad were watching the direct together. I wanted Mario Kart 9 or something like that. When the trailer first showed up, like every other person, I thought, "the heck is this garbage?"
Then, we saw the inkling, my dad said, "might be something for you, L--- (my dead name i don't' feel comfortable using)" I was still confused since I didn't see the obvious Smallfry, my eyes were more focused on the inkling that I couldn't tell what it was since I stopped caring for the direct at this point. But, let me tell you, when the Inkling removed their shades, I screamed,
"WAIT- NO- HOLD UP- THIS IS NOT REAL- THIS IS FRIGGIN DLC"
Then, when they showed the new hub world, I screamed "Splatoon 3". At this point, my sister could hear me across the house and was concerned for my well being. When I saw the Octoling girl's new hairstyle I fell in love, and my brain went, "ha, first you're gay for Octoling boys, now you're in love with Octoling girls. hahahaha splatoon made you bi for octolings"
Hopefully I'll get it on release day this time.
