Splatoon Splatoon General Discussion (HYPE THREAD)

I am in a bit of a losing streak and was before as well. I had reached B+ at one point but kept on losing and losing and could not get out of B- for what seemed like ages.

What roles are you normally taking? Support or lead? I always vary but if someone else is taking the lead I always make sure to support. Is someone else on the tower? Go ahead of the tower and ink the path. Try and work out where the other team will be coming from to splat them. Is someone else going on the opposite side of the splat zone? Cover them by distracting the enemy or stay closer to base and defend what you have.

Strangely, I found that the Nozzlenose and Octobrush helped me reach B+ from B-. The disruptors are great to support team members splat others for one. Octobrush has beakons which are great tool too - find corners or high ledges to place them.

And try not to get mad! I know that frustration. But I did manage to reach A- rank now. I have had a lot of losses and fall back to B+ very regularly but I'm trying my best to improve.

I almost always take the lead. my biggest problem is that I'm not good at aiming (I could never use a charger) and I get really frustrated when I get surrounded with like 3 people of the opposite team. I get the kills but I tend to get killed even more. today my team lost about a gazillion times and now I'm 2 ranks lower fml
 
I WAS ACTUALLY A- FOR A FEW MINUTES and it felt amazing. Im back to B+ now though. I have more than 50k though, so it's not a complete loss!

Have you not tried taking the lead? The other team would by distracted by the tower so you could sneak up on them to take them out. This works especially well on Arowana Mall - if you go down one of the sidepaths (without inking it if it's already untouched because then they'd know you were there) then you can sneak up on a favourite sniper position. Also support doesn't always mean snipers, I'm terrible with chargers too. I still use my Splash-O-Matic a lot but as support, I'll be throwing my suction bombs onto the tower so the other team are discouraged from going on it. Or if I have a splash wall, I'll throw that up so my team can advance. Disruptors are great too to make the other team panic and my team can take them out easier.

I'd also recommend being familiar with the map changes for ranked mode - they're there for a reason and can be very useful.

I know on some stages that rushing for the tower doesn't work well. I always try and see what my teammates are doing or seeing if the other team are close by before going on the tower. If they are all there, I would either try and splat them before getting on the tower or wait for my team to be there so we can cover each other.
 
Trying to splat dash with my roller is hard ;u; I did it once and im getting better but its hard .-.
 
I actually tried doing support, it worked! and I packed me 19 kills but guess that was because of the levels themselves (kelp dom and urchin underpass)...too bad I lost anyway because my team sucked
