Splatoon Splatoon General Discussion (HYPE THREAD)

has anyone else come across people in turf wars doing random stuff instead of... you know, trying to help their team?

i'm just wondering cuz this has happened to me twice. like i'm just trying to snipe the other team as usual and someone else on my team is covering the ground with ink and stuff... and then the other two people on my team are doing **** like spamming the 'nice'/'booyah' button, jumping off the map and just not helping at all. it's so annoying.

Probably trying to start a squid party, which is tough to do once people are over level 20, because winning matters more for leveling.

Squid partiers.

You're probably just as much as an annoyance to them, because squid parties are much more fun when more people join and if the enemy team is partying as well, it gets them mad when you splat them because they really weren't doing anything to you and any squid partiers on your team get upset with you as well.

The best way to deal with squid parties is to just ignore them if you don't want to join in. Although it likely won't stop them from partying, if at one match majority of them happen to be on one team they will see you as an enemy and go all out on you if you come close. Despite squid partiers are mainly looking for fun, many of them are more experienced players (many on max level since they don't have to win to get level points) and can get very fierce if they have to be. However if you don't bother them and just go on your way inking turf and splatting the people who are participating, they will leave you alone.

...I feel like I'm describing a wild species or something.

If you find them in Turf War again, try not to get mad. After all, Turf war is like a For Fun mode. Although you won't gain as much if you lose, you will still gain something if you do your job and it isn't possible to lose anything.

If you encounter them on Ranked, on the other hand, I definetly see a reason to get pissed off. If you get a Ranked Lobby with squid partiers, leave immedietly.
Luckily most of them know better than that.

i didn't do anything to them - i couldn't really, as both times it was people on my team who were doing it. i just tried to play normally... and ended up losing pretty badly cuz it was basically 2 against 4.

i was just annoyed when i went on turf wars to have fun by... well, playing the way it usually is played, and then ending up losing because two people on my team were just squid partying and pretty much stopping my team from winning because they weren't really doing anything.

Yeah I used to do just that when I thought my team was slacking. Helpful. No idea why people would do that if they WEREN'T angry though. Have you tried Rank, or is it Rainmaker or something?

I generally don't squid party because I know that some people have limited time to play, and the just want to play Turf Wars the way it's meant to be played. If the lobby is full of my own friends and we all know what's up, that's a different story, but doing it randomly feels kind of... rude?

If you run into a squid party lobby and don't want to participate, just leave the lobby after the match. Okay, you wasted three minutes of your time on a garenteed loss, and that's sad. There's no need to spend any more time on it. Squid parties are actually fairly rare, so unless you stay in a squid party lobby for many matches your shouldn't encounter them very much.
I've encountered several people online who didn't want to participate in the squid party and yet stayed for several matches. I don't really understand why people who want to play normally just stay in a squid party lobby. You're not only wasting your own time but are angering the people who want to party as well.

It'd be cool if there was a mode for just squid partiers. Instead of waiting in a lobby for 8 people, you'd automatically be dropped onto a map with other people or in rare cases, alone, waiting for other people. Each map could hold about 20 people. The "match" time is infinite, and you can go back to the lobby by just pressing B. You could squid party with others on the map. Each Inkling who joins is a different color because it'd be fun to play with 20 different colors. It's impossible to splat people or be splatted unless you go out of bounds.

I personally don't start squid parties, but I will join in if I see one.

Is it crazy that I LITERALLY just started a new LeafGreen game... today?

I have no idea which side to pick. I always choose water as my starter but I freaking love Charizard.
I hope today's youth actually recognizes these two

BEST SPLATFEST THEME YET!!!

Anyway, I thought I sucked at using the Inkbrush but I tried again last night and I kept getting the highest score throughout all matches. Also splatting people isn't as difficult as I remembered it. I think it will become one of my favorites for turf war^^

We already have this theme....? dk what ur on about

yeah... i made that post before i found out that that is actually the eu's splatfest theme .-.

this is probably goimg to be my favourite splatfest - not only because i like pokemon, but it happens just before my birthday ^^

I've never played either of the Pokemon games we're voting on, so I'm just gonna choose Blue because blue is a nice color.

tbh i've only played pokemon y but i voted red anyway because charizard is the fire-type starter for gen 1, and i picked the fire-type starter in pokemon y so...

Something kinda funny happened today. Me and this other player happened to super jump to the same place at the same time. That place happened to be on a crate over water. We apparently both have a habit of turning into squids as soon as we land, so we both fell through the crate and died and respawned (all at the same time) and after we respawned, we swam in the same direction for quite some time.

Maybe someone here can answer this: do suction bombs explode immediately when they come into contact with a splash wall? Because I got splatted by one behind my splash wall (I guess the blast radius travelled around the edge of the wall) and I'm not sure if it was lag or splash wall mechanics or what

Also maaaaaaan splatlings are tough to use!
Especially the hydra splatling, that thing takes forever to charge and I always get sniped trying to use it

i love how during the testfire i was like 'omg i suck at using chargers i'll never be able to splat anyone with them!!!1!11!!' but i ended up maining the custom e-liter 3k scope a few weeks after getting the game

sure it has a scope which makes aiming at other players much easier but still, i can easily splat at least 3 people in a match
