Splatoon Splatoon General Discussion (HYPE THREAD)

There is also
Sploosh-o-matic - Burst bombs and inkzooka
Splat charger - Beacons and inkzooka

I just looked through the Europe and Japan direct and they announced the same 3, didn't see a new Sploosh or Splat Charger anywhere.

Can I stop playing now? ._.

You need to get max sea snails as well as get perfect rolls on every single piece of gear.

It's a freaking charger, why an Inkzooka?
Why not an Inkstrike? Chargers need help covering ground.

Patch notes for 2.6.0 are up. Ability and weapon changes aren't listed yet, but everything else is there.

Also
Today I went from level 37 to 38 and I went from A- with 30 points to A+ with 30 points! I did a lot of work today. :]

Ranked gets easier when your teammates know how to actually play the game.

I got to A+ on October 7th and I'm still stuck there.
Yay. -_-

Something that depends on rank? Great, even more reason for me to never touch Ranked again for fear of losing my S 0.

Here are the patch notes someone in my splatoon group found. I'm not exactly sure where they got them from but they seem legit by the looks of it. Let me know if this is classified as spam though (couldn't get a link) and I'll take it down.

Ink Saver (Main)
- The scaling has been changed to peak at 45% instead of 40%.

Ink Saver (Sub)
- Likewise, the scaling has been changed to peak at 35% instead of 25%.

Ink Recovery Up
- The scaling has been changed to peak at 82% instead of 67%.

Special Time Up
- The active time scaling of the Inkzooka and Bomb Rush has been increased to peak at 60% instead 40%.
- Inkstrike and Killer Wail will have shorter cooldown times after use.

Opening Gambit
- The effects of Run Speed Up and Swim Speed Up, in the main slots only, will be increased by 3 minutes.

Last-Ditch Effort
- In Ranked Matches, if the other team's score reaches 30 or less, the effect will be applied regardless of its normal lifetime.
- In Ranked Matches, it will also be applied during Overtime.
- Additionally, the ability will now decrease respawn time when active.

Tenacity
- When active, the special gauge will fill 20% faster than normal.

Comeback
- In addition to the original effects, the ability will now also apply the effect of Special Charge Up.

Haunt
- In addition to the original marking effects, the effects of Damage Up, Defense Up, and Run Speed Up will also be applied upon respawning.

Recon
- After leaving the base, the effects will continue for 3.5 seconds.
- Additionally, the equipped weapons of opponents will be displayed over them.

Bomb Sniffer
- In addition to the original effects, the Splat Bomb, Suction Bomb, Seeker, and Ink Mine will all all do less than 100%* immediate damage and under 40% blast damage, while Burst Bombs' damage will be reduced by 20%.
* This is raw damage, which may be subject to change depending on the Defense up and Damage Up involved.
Map Changes
- In the following stages, the placement of map elements have been changed to be the same as in Ranked Matches.
- Arowana Mall
- Moray Towers

Matchmaking and Team Sorting Changes
- In Ranked Battles, team sorting used to be random, but will now take into consideration weapons equipped by players.
- In Ranked Battles, it will now not be possible for the follow ranks to be matched together:
- S+ and S
- S and A+
- A- and B+
- B- and C+
* This is due to changes in the time required to perform matchmaking, and is subject to change.

Rank Point Changes
- In Ranked Battles, decreased the amount of Rank Points lost if teams are made uneven by a connection error, resulting in defeat.

Splatfest changes
- Instead of a hype meter, you will have what’s called “Splatfest Power.”
- Your Splatfest Power will be decided when Splatfest starts, and is based on factors such as your Rank (i.e. S+ 70)
- Your Splatfest Power will change based on (of course) whether you win or lose your Splatfest matches
- The player with the highest Splatfest Power in a team will gain slightly bigger amount of points
- Before this, players were matched up based on their playstyles, but now they will be matched up with players with similar Splatfest Power
- You will gain more Splatfest Power after a match if the opposing team had the higher average Splatfest Power
- When the next match begins, players in a team who chose “Continue” will have the amount of consecutive games they played displayed

So I decided to play today, and... actually had fun. Like, there was very little lag and I didn't disconnect at all. Did Nintendo finally do something right???

Guess I'm going to work on filling slots of the now-more-useful abilities so I can reroll them. I have a few questions about those notes though... Does Bomb Sniffer make it so that bombs won't 1hko if you get hit in the face? Also for Opening Gambit, if the RSU and SSU time is extended by three minutes, wouldn't that be the whole turf match?

I had such a nice setup before this update but now I feel like I have to revise my gear to accommodate the improved abilities...

Whoop finally got to A-! But I swear the majority of those guys are five year olds. There's been some real stage luck and lots of Splat Zones but I've been losing a lot regardless. Been improving with the Roller, the range is annoying me less and less now.

This is clearly NA, I don't think anyone in EU would ever utter a sentence like that.

Callie needs to calm down. Like now.

Not only would EU never say something like that (though in a way I kinda wish we did. XDDD), EU's splatfest theme has been revealed to be hoverboards vs jetpacks.

But I feel bad for NA... Miiverse is gonna be spammed with Frozen artwork for the next week. XD

I'm going to go and draw a picuture of Sans on Miiverse right now.

Because, y'know, sands.

Only thing is that if the Splatfest is this weekend, we should've gotten the message about it when the game started up. I played both days this weekend and don't remember getting a Splatfest notification...

I'm curious, does anyone know how the team rankings at the end of a ranked match work anymore?
Like, Turf wars you're ranked based on the amount of points you got.
Ranked used to about how many kills you got.
Now, I have no clue. Just now, I got out of a match where a team mate had disconnected before we even started and myself along with another team mate ranked below that disconnected player. I've noticed this several times where I'm ranked below someone who d/c or even if I've done a lot of work. I mean, it doesn't bother me much, just confuses me how someone who didn't take part at all can be placed higher than two people who did take part. :/

I think people are ranked based on how many wins they've accumulated in their play session (y'know that area where it says "smoking" etc)
