I finally paid off my loan for the basement, and it says "I've paid off my final loan!" Excuse me, wot?

I've been quickly trying to pay off my debts so I can expand my kitchen (left room). But he literally says "Yeah, guess you were expecting for me to offer more expansions... lol no sorry we're not doing that anymore. But free exterior changes so cheer up."

I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm ranting, but I had to get over not having much freedom in which rooms to add (they'd pick for us; giving us back room first, left room next, etc). Okay fine, as long as I can pay these off, I'll end up with what I need in the end. Nope. Why is this? Am I missing something? While the wider attic and basement is nice (and having small rooms is sometimes okay) I don't see why this replaces the option to expand our side rooms at all?

At the moment this is the max size we can get, but they are adding more content soon, so maybe you can expand again.

I really hate how we went back to Wild World's house interior sizes. And the fact that our upstairs and basement has a completely new size. I don't like that.

yeah I was really confused as well. Walking to those rooms feels so cramped im kind of stunned...

there are many limitations in this game that i find odd, and unfortunately our house experiences one of those. this may have been a design choice because it seems we lack quite a bit of furniture compared to other games (right now i think there's only a few sets of furniture compared to nl numerous furniture sets). but that still doesn't make much sense. maybe the exterior of the house prevents it, but then you look at the tiny, rectangular museum and how it seems to be in its own dimension with how much space is actually in there. maybe someday they'll let us expand some rooms, but i've become complacent with the amount of space we've been given.

I was kinda upset at that too. I was really hoping to have all my rooms the same size as the main one, and it's going to make it so much harder to fit all of the furniture sets I want because of it

Yeah I don't see why they've done this. Takes away a lot of freedom to what we want our homes to look like. It's like they want us to have this specific layout and work with it. How they went from New Leaf, to HHD, to this is weird. Hopefully this get's addressed to Nintendo and they'll reconside it with a patch, there's no excuse why they can't.
At least give us the option of what size rooms we want and let us change it in the future.

Yyyeeeeaahhhh even though paying over 5 mil is less than NL, you basically get what you pay for. I was also kinda surprised about the room sizes but I'm hoping that'll get fixed.

Rooms used to be 8x8 in nl... so I was surprised when my 3 other rooms that branch from the main were 6x6 (like they are stuck in the second phase of extension) I thought I was going crazy...glad to see I’m not alone in my thinking

I was shocked at the 6 x 6 side rooms and the rectangle attic and basement.

The finished house doesn't look like the mansion it did in previous games.

The year they delayed the game, what was that for?
To remove every feature they know we loved?

For what?

I'm just assuming they figured that most of our decorating and such will be more outside than in our homes, so that's why they kept the room sizes smaller in this game? Could also explain why a lot of furniture sets aren't in the game now; they expect you to decorate outside.

This game design choice was definitely not because of cut furniture.

This is probably one of my only problems I have with the game. People have said that bigger rooms don't exactly look right but some people like myself don't care about that. They should of made room sizes optional imo

No it was to give some people like myself and others an enjoyable game. Nothing I "loved" was removed so maybe Nintendo doesn't only think the way you do?

Again, that theory doesn't make much sense. House decorating is completely different then outside and I'm sure Nintendo knows that. House decorating has always been an integral part of the game and probably one of the biggest reasons for playing.

So removing quite a few of the NPC's, the furniture sets, Gracie, stores, diving, art, the Roost, the Police Station, Pascal, bushes, certain flowers and mushrooms, the silver axe and special stumps, Club LOL, Tortimer island and the tours, Kapp'n and his family, the RV grounds and items, most of the food items, Katrina and the Lucky Hats, the Dream Suite, the larger house size options, the house style options, the indestructable golden tools which have always been the end reward in AC for completing a years worth of fishing and bug catching, or completion of the critterpedia, and the list goes on, was all for the betterment of the player was it?

Quite a lot of people aren't happy, or haven't you noticed the dozens of topics reguarding these things?

Allow people to feel the way they do, and to vent about it in this topic about disappointing room sizes, as that's what it's for.

I hate how small the rooms are now 8__8

I hate it and I hate how whenever someone is upset about lack of variety in furniture sets or lack of choice on how to expand your house people keep being like "yeah well I like the minimalist furniture and didn't like all the wacky weird stuff so it's better this way" or "well I think having a small, cozy house fits the game and I don't want a big one so this is better"! So you want a tiny minimally decorated house, so what? You could still do that in New Leaf if you wanted while other people could have a big house full of mermaid and mushroom furniture if they wanted. Now you can just be happy with your house while other people aren't because they don't have the same taste as you. Removing choices and freedom isn't a good thing. I hope an update will come out where I can make my rooms bigger if I want.

Edit to clarify some stuff (and also apologize a bit for going off on a rant on this thread haha): I actually like some of the new furniture sets a lot! The shell, cherry blossom, and cute stuff is really nice to me. I just wish we still had all the choices we used to, and this is part of that :( My gf wanted to make a school and she had plans for how big each classroom would be but now she doesn't have the freedom to do that, and I find it weird that we went from HHD to this.

I'm hoping in the future we will be able to customize our house layout similar to HHD. I like small rooms... if it wasn't for storage, I probably would have kept the first room small. Rectangle basement and attic sounds awkward. Also really hoping they add doors, because the big black holes are a bit jarring.

Maybe they could add a couple more loans, and once paid off, you can change all layout options and keep maximum storage.

I do miss some of the furniture series, but I think they'll be added in slowly through seasonal sets or events.

I don't like how the rooms sizes are so inconsistent like... what?? the 6x6 side rooms are so tiny and will get cramped fast, I was expecting we could expand them later but I guess,, they're just like that? for some reason?

And then we get these super wide 2nd floor and basement, it feels like I'd have much more room than I'd know what to do with. it's gotta be one of the most frustrating changes in this game

It would be if this was the first Animal Crossing game to remove content  A ton of stuff that players like myself didn't care about got removed and added a whole butt load of amazing features that we do like. While I do feel sorry for the side the misses that stuff, you gotta realize Nintendo was catering more towards my crowd and I think that's why there's so much hype.

Besides that ,half the stuff you mention is most likely on its way in updates and you still choose to complain constantly about it. For example, roost I believe was confirmed for museum update and gold tools breaking sounds like a you problem instead of Nintendo's. Tool breaking is completely new to the series besides the axe so saying that golden tools were changed is a little far fetched.
