Pretty sure I’m not the only person here low on spoons. Winter always makes my ME/CFS so hard to manage and can really get me down so I thought it would be nice to create a calm space on The Bell Tree for other chronically sleepy beans and other disabled folks here ~

What’s helping you get through the winter? 😊💕

i have lupus, hihi

i've had to go to the hospital a few times which really sucks and makes me uncomfortable, but i didn't really have a choice. there are days where the pain is really bad and it's all i can do to stay in bed all day! luckily my brother is always willing to hang out and let me watch him play video games.

Hello 😊💕
I definitely have a lot of bed days too, been taking a lot of daytime naps recently >>
Ahh that’s really nice! I’m glad your brother is there for you! Playing chill games/watching my partner play chill games is always good for taking my mind off of pain and flare ups ;w;

Does chronic depression count? :D
Ive been out of spoons for ages, and this year has been especially rough since my 16 year old cat passed away last year and I've recently officially stopped talking to my abusive father. Also, I'm getting some teeth pulled tomorrow and I'm super nervous about it, I've never been put to sleep for a procedure before.

My new cat is really helping me get through it though! Also my fiance is great, we were going to get married this year but covid happened (and is still happening), so hopefully next year!

I'm sorry you lost your cat ;-; *sends hugs* I'm glad you have a new cat in your life though ;w; I do find pets so reassuring in their love ;w; I'm hoping once (if) I get my disability benefits through we might be able to support a cat too ;w;

I've only been put under once, I found the going under fine (you just drift out very quickly) but coming to pretty disorientating :') Good luck, I hope it all goes smoothly for you 💕

ACNH definitely ahaha. I recently picked up Spiritfarer which is so beautiful and calm and moving - it's resource gathering but based around helping out the spirits on your boat ;w;
Another one I love but am on hiatus with is Sky: Children of the Light - it's an app online multiplayer game, vvvvvv beautiful, and you can hold hands with other players so it's a lovely one for playing when low energy as you can get someone else to drag you around. It also has a lot of people just chilling and playing music to each other. 💕💕

What a nice idea!! My health issues have gotten super bad in the last few months but thankfully I'm able to work from home for now. I have a chronic nerve condition that impairs my mobility, migraines, endo, and various other things. Lately I've been getting through the winter by taking lots of naps to tell you the truth. I love to draw and do creative things but I haven't been able to do that because of my migraines. I usually play lots of soft quiet games like stardew and animal crossing usually to take my mind off things. Anything immersive can be a great escape, especially if I can do things in the game (like running, etc.) I can't do IRL. :)

Naps and hibernation definitely feel like the way to go with Winter >>
Sorry to hear you've been feeling rough recently, I hope your migraines settle enough for you to be able to draw again soon 💕💕 I use a lot of the accessibility settings on my ipad to keep the screen as dim as possible, i don't know if light sensitivity is an issue for you but maybe something like that could help?
And immersive, calm games are amazing for taking my mind off of things too 😊💕

I’m going to try that! It’s more of an issue of staring at a screen all day for work and my energy being low after to do it too. It can be so difficult to engage in your hobbies during flare ups!

That sounds really horrible, I’m sorry ;-; Feel free to PM me if you want to talk/vent?

I've been in the middle of a long episode of SOMETHING -- depression, chronic fatigue, something -- since the beginning of December. I have no idea what happened but it hit me hard. I could barely stay awake 12 hours a day. This week with the stuff happening in USA I haven't been able to sleep at all. It has been a 180 in a circle of bad.

I had lyme disease and thyroid disease and since then I have had problems. Undiagnosed so I rely on family which is very guilt-inducing.

Hello!
I'm a chronic fatigue - haver and I know the feelings of guilt that come with it so well ;-; Try to look after yourself and take it easy as much as possible, pacing honestly seems to be the only management option if it is cfs. Winter can be a rough time for mental or physical health and external stress doesn't help either~ I'm sure this flare up will calm down sooner or later 💕

Thank you! It will! It really helps thinking about it as not being personal or a personality flaw I have. It helps to think of it as a situation I'm in. And there is a lot to be thankful for, always.

Definitely! I was very lucky in having a friend with a similar condition and getting a specialist nurse who helped me understand what was happening, but it can be really hard to not beat yourself up over it sometimes 😅 Daily gratitudes help me a lot, either via journalling or on the thread here. Sending you love 💕💕💕
