Not sure where to put this or even if someone else had done one, but I was working on my New Island and was thinking of what Villagers I wanted for my Fandom Themed island and the idea hit me…

Why not ask everyone here if they have any stories behind why they chose certain villagers or how that Villager chose them.

So for example for me the one thing that got me thinking about this was when coming up for my villager list for Fandesu, I wanted Phil as my Smug cause I love Phil Collins (Musician from Genesis…does tons of Disney soundtracks) cause he is probably my favorite Musical Artist right now and since Fandesu is themed after all of my Favorite people, anime, actor…and so on, I thought Phil would work. I was going to kinda make him my music guy on my island and I had no idea that he has the Music Hobby! This alone made me squeal with joy knowing that he has forever earned his spot in my heart.

Anyone else got a story to share?

Bella has been my favorite villager for about as long as I can remember. She was my very best friend back in wild world. I have some great memories with her, from her greeting me on my birthday to talking about salad dressings. I honestly don’t know what drew me to her or why specifically I liked her so much, I guess it’s just one of those things from your childhood you naturally have an affinity for.
I still remember the day she left my wild world town...
Anyway, after much turmoil, I finally got Bella on my NH island this October!!! I, for one, am so glad villagers in NH can’t move away without your permission like they could in other games. She’ll never leave me again! ❤️

My villagers were actually chosen based on color scheme and species. I have two wolves to be the leaders of the pack, along with eight dogs. They all follow an orange-brown color scheme. I have a picture here for reference:

I love all of my villagers. I haven’t been more fond of a group of characters since the Totodile evolution line, lmao. Mac, Biskit, and Bones are Amiibos.

It is nice to see people like the, for lack of better word…the weird villagers, but I kinda like Bella.

And yes it is nice that they don’t leave on their own now.

Nice Pack.

Personally I love Chief so good choice.

I feel like I have a story for almost all my villagers lol

Bones who is my favorite Animal Crossing villager has been living with me since GameCube. He is just absolutely adorable to me. He used to do the cute little villager dance around his house in the GameCube game and it just melted my heart. He would also bury stuff in acres and have people dig them up. Super cute.

Coach I first met in New Leaf, he was in my partners void and we were always playing New Leaf, then out of nowhere Coach moved in from my partners island. At first I was totally put off by him, then slowly over time he really grew on me. I ended up just loving him and thought he was super sweet. When I put New Leaf down the last time he had just moved out and then when I played New Horizons Coach was there on my island as a starter villager. I of course had to keep him since he decided to go on my island adventure with me lol..

Lobo and Shari have similar origin stories. I had Fang in my GameCube town and Lobo was in my partners. One day after a random move out in New Leaf, Lobo auto filled. He plopped his house right next to Shari. Shari was new in New Leaf, but I freaking loved her. She is so funny and wild. I have this theory that Lobo and Shari are married. They are always around each other. In NL they were constantly sitting on benches together or at each other’s houses. I played Pocket Camp for a short stint and I put both of them at my Campsite. They were always interacting with the furniture together. If the furniture was able to have two villager’s interacting with it, it was always Shari and Lobo. Now in NH I have them next to each other. They go to each other’s birthdays, they hang out with each other, they have frequent conversations and they’re usually bickering. They are an old married couple and I love them.🥺

My second favorite villager Ozzie looks exactly like this koala bear plushie that i’ve had since the day I was born. I have a deep love for koalas. It’s my dream to one day volunteer somewhere in Australia to help with rehabbing and conservation for koalas. If I ever see a koala plushie, i HAVE to buy it. Ozzie is just too cute not to have around.

Nice.

Every time I see Shari I can’t help but think of the NL play through on YouTube where Shari was like the town bully…can’t remember who it was though.

Well there is one story about a certain villager by the name Molly and oh boy do I have a lot to say about her and how she become my favorite. I was watching this YouTuber by the name of Chuggaconroy who did a lets play of Animal Crossing New Leaf. Now I wasn't aware of what Animal Crossing was and I never heard of it until I watched this guy's new Lets Play. I've been a long time subscriber since 2009 when he first played Super Mario Sunshine.

Anyways I always knew he liked Molly the first time he saw her. She was an adorable normal duck villager that is very kind. I too liked her also and she was really a nice duck to have in the town. However later in the Lets Play she decided to move out and I was very upset to see her go. I told myself whenever I would get Animal Crossing one day to find Molly myself.

So then I got Animal Crossing New Horizons during the time when there was a pandemic. I search all over for Molly she was nowhere to be found on the Nook Islands. Feeling frustrated I asked my friends if they had Molly but they didn't. I looked on that trading site Nookazon to see if they have her but they didn't. It was by then I had given up, but then something happened. It was somewhere in June 2020 when she finally came to my Campsite. I remember just screaming for joy when I saw her. Of course I had to do the dreaded card game but after many attempts I convinced her to move in and she picked Ruby to leave which I was fine with.

To this day she is still living on my island and I don't ever plan on letting her go ever. She holds a special place in my heart and I just told myself that "the pain of searching is finally over". So yeah thats why I love Molly so much.

I loved watching his play through.

Also Molly is super cute and congrats on getting her.

My two starter villagers in ACNH were Agnes and Louie, and I quickly grew attached to them. Agnes is now my favourite villager, though both of them still live on my island two years later.

ACNH was my first "real" AC game, though I had played Pocket Camp before. I was fond of Rhonda (normal rhino) in PC, so when I saw her on a mystery island in my first few days of playing, I had to get her, and she ended up being one of my five initial villagers. I'm really glad that you can now customise the homes of your villagers, because now I've been able to improve the starter homes of these three villagers!

I fell in love with Megan when I met her in PC before the NH release, and I didn't actually know she was a new villager at the time. I spent 105 NMTs hunting her down. 🐻😊

Patty was the first and only villager I've ever adopted from another island! Another villager I loved in PC.

Pinky, Gayle, Victoria, and Norma were just villagers I thought were nice while island-hopping.

My latest villager Goldie I found while island-hopping. I wasn't looking for any specific villager (though I wouldn't have minded finding a cranky bear), and when I saw Goldie I couldn't pass her up, because she was the first AC villager I'd ever met. It seemed only right that after two years of playing NH, my first ever AC villager should have a house here! ❤️

I don't mind not having one of every personality, but I do remind myself that I shouldn't have only peppy and normal villagers, which is what I unintentionally seem to do. I wouldn't mind seeing more sisterly villagers in game. 😊

Interesting choices.

I also don’t mind not having all the personalities…I like who I like regardless of that.

Gruff, Filbert, and Sally (who was named Hazel back then) were all villagers from my ACGC town. I loved all three, and hadn't seen them since that game, so I worked to get them this time around.

Cherry and Snake were my starters, and I originally planned to punt them, because I'm not terribly fond of either uchi or jock, but I've come to really adore them both, so they are also here to stay.

Flora was a gamble. Again, peppy can sometimes be a bit much, but she is so sweet and colorful, she fit right in.

Purrl was in one of my NL villages, and since I love cats, I decided to bring her on. The fact that she and Cherry have become such good friends, and that she looks out for my normals, only makes her more dear.

Smugs are tough. I got stuck with Lopez, and he did not fit with any of my villagers, so I moved him out as soon as possible. I had had Beardo in NL, and became quite fond of him, but wanted a new villager, so went with Lionel. He has definitely become a favorite of mine.

Rounding out my ten are Lolly, because normals are my favorite and I really do love cats. She's just a dear little thing and I love coming on conversations between her and Sally. For the last slot, I decided on another cranky. I haven't had a lot of them, but I thought Gruff needed a contemporary, so when I saw Dobie on a mystery island, I knew it was meant to be. He and Gruff are my cranky grandpa villagers, living next door to one another. They look out for everyone else, particularly Lolly, Sally, and Filbert.

Dobie and Cherry have formed a tight bond, as well. They both like to joke and talk tough, but are really softies at heart.

And that's the story of my villagers.

Sad to read you got rid of Lopez…I used to love him but I prefer other smugs.

Snake is amazing to have with Genji…had both in NL.

Lolly is one of my top favorites as well.

Dobie is a good choice for Cranky…such and old man personalit.

Muffy and Poppy are my favorite villagers (they were my initials on ACNL and ACCF respectively) so I obviously had to get them. I got so excited when I saw that one of your initials on ACNH was always an uchi, so I reseted the island until I got Muffy. For Poppy, I got her and Marshal (my sister's favorite villager) with amiibo cards.

The other ones are kind of random move-ins from mystery islands that I liked. Sprinkles and Lolly are on my ACNL town, so I moved them in. Coco and Ruby are villagers both my sister and I wanted but never got on previous games, so I invited them too. Dotty was another initial on ACCF, I think she never left that town?. Filbert was a villager in my ACWW I loved when I was little. Marcie was totally random, I just wanted a pink villager and thought she was cute.

More love for Lolly!

Bristöl:
Anabelle - My mom chose her because she's cute. I love the anteaters.
Cephalobot - My mom and sister's favorite from the update.
Cranston - I can't remember when we got him, but he's still on the island because he's funny.
Flora - I found her on a hunt and my mom wanted her while I didn't. But this was after I got my own island, so I was way more lenient with villagers I didn't like.
Frett - I wanted a cranky villager, so I just used his amiibo.
Marshal - I think he came from the campsite, and he's just cute.
Melba - One of the first three villagers I saw on islands. She instantly became my favorite villager.
Petri - My favorite villager from the update. I just thought she's really cool, so I was excited to find him.
Roald - He's Roald, do I need to explain?
Tangy - Another one of the three villagers you see. She's so cute!

Melbourne:
Audie
- With most of my villagers here, I got them because I didn't have enough NMTs. I always liked her, so I used her amiibo.
Boots - Starter villager who hasn't asked to leave.
Butch - Same as Frett. I wanted a cranky villager and ran out of NMTs, so I used his amiibo.
Daisy - First normal villager I saw. I had her on Bristöl too.
Eugene - Found him on a hunt. He's okay.
Hans - First campsite villager, so I'm stuck with him.
Mathilda - Settled for her on a hunt since I wanted a snooty villager.
Phoebe - Starter.
Simon - Accidentally invited him while on the island.
Victoria - I think she moved in automatically.

I have stories for a select few:

Gala- is a secret crime boss (bc her house is a bank) ((also just remodeled her house on my island and made her HHP house the stash house

Grizzly- a lumberjack that moved to my island to retire

Gigi- a fashion designer from Paris (I imagine she has a French accent)

Prince- a little boy whose parents sent him away (bc he was annoying) to live on my island.

Tiffany- an influencer who makes most of her money on onlyfans

Jambette- moved to my island to fulfill her photography career

Ed, Tangy, Monique, Muffy dont have stories yet

The only villagers I hand-selected or searched for were Dizzy, Ken, Tasha (amiibo) and Cyd. The rest were all my original random move ins or early villagers I came across on mystery islands so I have no particular reason behind them other than "that'll do" and "I'm lazy to villager hunt so I'll take you"...hahaha. I’ve only swapped out 3 villagers since my island was created on launch day. I don't actively pre-determine stories for any of them, but some have naturally developed as I play that are based off in-game conversations. In the beginning I even made little drawings to accompany some of them.

For example, I recently learned from a convo that Ursala used to live in a rural town and lived far away from all her friends, so she moved onto this island in hopes of living close by to her new friends/neighbours. I saw that convo just yesterday, but before that I had already put Ursala in one of the biggest villager districts so it made me kind of happy to read that her goal came true. I also imagined that Cupcake from forest was her older sister and Ike was her childhood friend and drew this of them in my old island journal. I'll likely make a HHP house for Ursala and invite Ike for a photoshoot just to make this more of a reality. It's gonna be cute.

I drew some backstory for Erik's family too, but it was just something based on what he said about his grandma.

Dizzy and Cyd have a little-bro-big-bro type relationship and I've seen a lot of cute interaction from the two of them, like Cyd being concerned about Dizzy's future. I have never seen Cyd or my other crank Hamphrey have these kind of convos with Erik, so in my mind this lazy-cranky convo is unique to my elephants hehe.

Freya, who was my snooty for 2 years and who I recently moved out for Tasha, went on to fulfil her dreams of being a head chef (another HHP story). I named my Restaurant after her and made her work there as well. My first smug Quillson also works there as a chef and Freya’s old neighbor Bianca also works there as a server, so all my old villagers work together now lol.

Ken and Hamphrey have been neighbors since the beginning and I’ve always made little villages dedicated to just them. Hamphrey always ran some kind of noodle shop (I used that bamboo noodle slide like crazy before there were other items his house was always covered in them hahaha) Now they both live in a fishing village together.

I'm wayyy too lazy/busy to draw these things now but I'll likely build more of my other villager's backstories through interaction/photos from HHP and post them to my island journal if some convo interests me. Sometimes thinking of little stories as I play is fun, but I don't treat AC as a total roleplaying thing with villagers having a pre-determined backstory. It just comes kind of as I play I guess. I'm going to give jobs to all my villagers soon but that's kind of the extent of what I have thought out for them.
