Part of the problem comes from elitism. This is seen numerous times. I know some of you really think it's cool to make a "funny" post (if you know what I'm referring to), but the reality is that you look like a child. And then it's encouraged by somebody else. Because it's not one person being an elitist. It's a group. You see, when one person you think is cool, or maybe even "superior to you", makes a post - that's OK and that's funny. But when it's somebody who is "inferior to you" - they're being a noob and they should go away. That's just classic elitism, and of course terms like "bully" and "haze" are going to be used. It's like a virtual clique. And none of them can tell that they look like a bunch of confused children because after all, the only right answer comes from someone in the group itself. Of course!
Now, when someone from the group disagrees with somebody else, the group will not be happy. The groupies will gang up on said member until they know for sure that they are right and that they have won. Also, when another member comes a long that's not in this little group and is not "cool" with the ring leaders, that person is automatically uncool. For example, if one member has bad spelling or is in constant disagreement with the group's beliefs about posting on a forum, they are an automatic target. And it's at this point where I'm going to say of course terms like "cult" are going to be used.
So eventually, of course, one of them is suspended by an admin. This upsets the very core of the group. They go to their round table and discuss how right they are, how wrong everyone else is, and they may even start to plan something. Normally they aren't any type of organized group, they just hang around every now and then. But this calls for action. Surely someone from their group couldn't have been punished! The admin, he must be a bad admin. Rebel, that's what they'll do. The admin dared to defy them, and now he'll pay for what must be complete corruption! So now more people are suspended. How did this happen? It must be true, the admin really is the biggest jerk imaginable. And look at this, nothing is done right. That noob is back again and he isn't making any sense. They'll show him, they'll make him leave! Because they know what's best. They are the elite class of this establishment and they have always known what to do.
When that uncool person breaks a rule, the group can tell that the admins are being extremely one sided. After all, they're hearing about all these punishments, but why not towards these other people? Why just their group? You see, the group actually forgot that punishments are private. But it's too late, they need to show who's who! They're ready to put anybody in their way back in their place! Anything this person says is a complete joke. It wasn't their-group-like and none of them like it. They not only need to get rid of this person, but they should humiliate this person as much as possible for their own pleasure! After all, they're just trying to have some fun!
So I'm posting this little story to show what some here have looked like. I think when you look back at everything now, it has started because someone was an elitist. Maybe it's that you break a lot more than you think, if you're wondering why you get warned so much. And I wonder if you realize how many times you insult or offend someone else. Why would you do that? I have been told "we're trying to make it more fun." I have heard all of the excuses. "TBT doesn't have to be like other forums." Oh really, we don't have to set rules for people to follow? We don't have to punish people for giving disrespect? I think that's a joke and that's an absolutely pathetic excuse. So right now we've started something new. When someone clearly has a problem with posting here, their going to be put in a moderation queue for a certain amount of time. This means every post they make will have to be approved by a moderator. It's a shame you need someone to hold your hand through this. I'd expect you to be a respectful person on your own. You really are ruining it for a lot of people here, so the line is being drawn. Lastly, I'd like to say if you have no interest in improving your behavior or trying to get a long with other people, please tell me and I will have your account disabled. There's no reason for you to wait any longer if this is what you really want. There's no point being here... the punishment gets worse and worse with your warn amount. It's only a matter of time if you aren't looking to change a little.
