suggestion about villager trading

This would be perfect

I don't understand any reasoning why not making a separate board. The adoption and villager trading threads are waaaay too crowded. If you actually want your post to get noticed, the best way is to spam up the trading section, which is the reason everybody has been posting there instead of the threads. A group is also unnoticeable because not everyone will know about it/have access to it. If you say no to a separate board, that means you're ok with continuing with everyone posting in the trading board

A new board isn't that complicated to make anyway, or at least shouldn't be

There is a popular subreddit based on this:
http://www.reddit.com/r/AdoptMyVillager/
But I'd much rather be trading on the bell tree forums. It seems more colorful and I feel safer trading lol

Yeah but probably only cause the way this forum looks. I used reddit and got 54m without a problem. Don't give up on it. :)

I also don't like how it's kinda hard to tell if someone is a reliable trader. On this website, you easily see someone's history, their number of posts, their wifi rating, etc. On there, I can barely tell if they made a shady new account or not

It also kinda hurts my eyes to look around reddit x.x I guess it requires getting used to, though

I do like that reddit has a better search engine than TBT though >_> TBT just searches for anything and you can't even sort by date, it just gives it to you in any order it feels like <_< I also can't search up something like "Del" if I want to see if someone wants him because my search has to be more than 3 characters :/

Been there also. ._. Curse you Flo! But you can click the profile and see how long they've had the account, it's okay I guess but it's kinda hard to navigate through. Their auctions are more strict also.

It's funny that you say that! Among redditors, the search function is notorious for being terrible :p

I've had nothing but excellent experiences on Reddit. Although the wifi rating system here is indisputably better, r/actrade has a ban/caution list, which I think is pretty helpful in determining if someone is a scammer or not. I also like Reddit's "newest" function. Upvoting/downvoting is also a great feature; the mundane threads/topics/posts that don't add anything to the discussion (which are repeated on the main ACNL thread to up people's postcounts) wouldn't make it on the frontpage on Reddit. I think it really depends on what you're looking for.
I also think the community on reddit is a bit more older/mature, so you're less likely to have someone who doesn't understand timezones in auctions and whatnot.

Yeah, their auctions are really strict >_> You have to set a time limit, a minimum increase, the buyout price, etc. But then you can't trade villagers in the middle of an auction, and you can't cancel an auction.

Even if Reddit's search is bad, TBT is worse :/ I mean, it'll give you results in random date order and you can't do anything about it except search through them and attempt to find recent posts. And I had Del moving away. I couldn't search this forum because his name is 3 letters, so I was forced to go to reddit

I really don't know how this forum lists the search results honestly.

I really hate the way this forum lists the results. I feel that it's just rolling a dice and like "Lol, let's stick this post from 4 months ago at the top of the list, then something from 2 days ago, then maybe 1 month ago?". I hate trying to use the TBT search :/

The more strict the auction, the better. I've seen some people on the Retail thread purposely delaying the auction end-time just so they could get more money, which is ridiculous. I think I read Prof Gallows/Justin or one of the mods were working on an auction guide though, so hopefully that helps clear things up soon.

I think the forum's search limitations are due to vBulletin :/ Reddit's not bad for buying/selling though :p

Regarding the search, there are options in Advanced Search to restrict search to a time period, or sort by date instead of "relevance".

Seems like the villager givaeway thread was moved to retail. Doesn't the villager exchange thread fit in more with retail?
Why was one moved, but not the other?

Not quite sure myself, it wasn't me. I'm looking into it now.

I can't even find the other one anymore =S
(It's back... or I was blind, one of the two)

Oh, I've just found out that that doesn't search the whole forum lol

But you can't put the recent posts first. I set it to last post, then I tried descending order. It shows the oldest posts first. Then I tried ascending order. It does the exact same thing. It seems like I found a bug?

Oooooooooo

The new forum was made. Thank you very much xD I'm going to post there now >:D

Edit: Oh wait, it won't let me post :/ There's no post new thread option x.x Lol

Yes, things are still being setup. It's not a race haha.

I shall be the first to post!!! Jk but yeah, it would be great if there were prefixes like in retail.

Thank you for doing this Justin! I hope this tread didn't cause problems but I appreciate the convenience you're creating.

The race for the first post :O Lol xD

But yeah, the prefixes from the retail seem to work nicely.

Buying is if you want to give bells or items
Selling is if you want bells/items
Trading is if you want to trade villagers
Auction is an auction lol
Giveaway is if you want to get rid of them to anyone (or I guess, it could be renamed to "adoption" or something?)
