Suggestion: Bring back Shoutbox

I'm sure some of you "oldies" may remember the shoutbox from the Zetaboards site. It was used quite often but was removed when we switched to vB because we were deciding between it and the IRC. Obviously, the IRC one, although the shoutbox deserved a comeback. Here is why:
- The IRC has been very inactive lately which makes for little to no discussion
- With a shoutbox you can chat with other members quite simply which may get rid of some poor post quality
- A shoutbox is a very good way to meet new friends and let new members get involved with the community
- It is easy to implement and is at least worth a test run if interest is brought up.

You're just assuming. It worked quite well back then. No harm in TRYING it like I said.

Don't really miss the shoutbox honestly, there's nothing wrong with the IRC it's just we seem to have forgotten how to converse or somethin.

Bring back the RP board if anything so it's not all spammed in the basement

Shout box is just going to be spammed with "LOOKING FOR [VILLAGER]"



I mean I don't really care if it's brought back or not but I think it's pointless and will make the forum look ugly

It's taken a little longer than last time but the IRC and the site are in that time period where it's going to start dying down again just a bit until the new game is announced.


Other than the die-hard New Leaf players and general new members that still play the game I think most of the TBT Vets are gonna be a bit distant until the new game. So the IRC and stuff is going to be pretty barren.


Also the shoutbox was awful. I remember when we would get one or two people that thought it'd be funny to just spam the hell out of it for half an hour, plus with how the site is now it would just be overloaded with AC related stuff.

Just my opinions though. Can't say what the rest of the staff thinks about it.

The shoutbox wasn't just removed because of the arrival of the IRC. Every shoutbox system in existence is incredibly clunky and a resource hog. It lags to high heaven and, for what you get in return, it's not worth the expenditure.

The only way to make the IRC less quiet is if everyone AFKs in there all day and makes attempts at conversation when others are likely present. If nobody tries to converse then obviously nobody is going to converse back.
