Okay, so I’ve seen a lot of people say that they are tired of seeing people complain about the game around here.

While I completely understand their feelings, we have consequently created an environment in which people are attempting to silence others for having a differing opinion. It has ultimately resulted in nothing more than a bunch of arguing.

My suggestion is that we create a separate complaints sub-board to which the complaint threads can be relocated. This way, the people who are tired of seeing complaints can easily avoid them. At the same time, the people with criticisms would have a space to air them without being silenced. It seems to be a Win-Win situation.

Additionally, it would clean up the main New Horizons board and allow everything to be better organized.

While I disagree with parts of what you said there, over all I fully agree with this.
I dont think it would happen, but I still agree.

I personally think there should be one complaint thread to hoard everything.
Personally, I disagree. Only allowing one major thread feels like it is trying to minimize discussion of criticisms. Having a separate sub would allow more freedom in discussion, while at the same time, making it easier to avoid for those who don’t like it. :)

I don't know that I necessarily agree with this course of action. Rather than having constructive criticism and discussion, we'd simply have people retreating into their own bubbles of positivity or negativity and then it's just another us vs. them echo chamber like so many other things these days. People have strong opinions and they argue, it's okay. Some people can be excessive in tone or overly aggressive and some people can be too closed-minded toward opposing viewpoints having the right to simply exist, and I feel that's the big issue here. I think the answer here is simply more critical thinking and restraint rather than more division.

My whole reason behind this is that I’ve seen multiple people say they are tired of people complaining. I was trying to find a solution that would appeal to them, while at the same time, still allow free and open discussion by the critics.

ETA: that’s not to say, we wouldn’t still be allowed to respectfully discuss opposing viewpoints on the sub. I didn’t intend for it to be an echo-chamber. It’s more or less to allow the people who don’t want to see the criticism to avoid it instead of trying to tell others to stop talking about it.

While we appreciate the feedback this is not something that we would ever implement. People are welcome to make threads criticising the game and the AC:NH board is the appropriate place to do this. If an individual member authors many threads of this nature then we will contact them privately and suggest more constructive ways of expressing their thoughts on the game. All I can suggest to someone who dislikes threads that criticise the game is to simply not engage with them.

I doubt that'd happen, creating a sub board solely for complaints, and gripes with the game would feel like the forum would be inviting negativity, rather than people having actual complaints that they want to discuss.
Frankly I think that people simply ought to grow thicker skin, the whole point of a forum is to share opinions, ideas, and feelings.

That’s what my original thoughts were as well, but I was noticing that people who were claiming to dislike/be tired of seeing the criticisms were still actively engaging with the complaint threads—despite their claims that they “didn’t want to see it”. I wasn’t sure what course of action we should take from here.

Anyways, thanks for letting me know! I just thought it was worth a shot. It’s not that big of a deal that it can’t happen! :)

If these types of posts dominate a thread feel free to hit the report button to draw our attention to it. A member of our team will then come in and try to steer the conversation in a more constructive direction.
