So I've been less active on TBT lately because of life and I was planning on posting these drawings next week...but I made a new OC that I absolutely adore and want to share ASAP! I'll have to save them for last though, because of course I drew some other things before they came along. (I'd also like to mention that I signed up for the Secret Santa event a while ago and today I got a match!! Can't say who, though...)

First off are my Haunted Carnival entries, specifically for Creature Feature and Pierrot's Parlor! as promised. My prompt for Creature Feature was Furry Iguana, and I was initially intimidated because I hadn't drawn an iguana before. >_< But then I had a clever idea of doing a plush toy iguana based on the dreamy toys from ACNH, and this was the result! I even gave it a binomial nomenclature (Latin name) for fun; it basically means "soft iguana".

The furry iguana (Iguana mollis) is among many sentient plush toy animals living on the shelves of souvenir shops in zoos. It remains still around humans and is capable of movement when none are nearby. Furry iguanas are closely related to their reptilian counterpart, having many traits in common including a keen eyesight and herbivorous diet. (Although it is unknown how they can eat food without a mouth...)​

And this one here is for Pierrot's Parlor. For my tattoo design, I took Bob's head and made him look all trippy and stuff. @_@ I made the most out of my gel pens with this one. It actually looks pretty nice IMO, but I'm sure anyone else might find it super weird. XP

Inspiration: I remember one time I was looking at a vacation home someone made for Bob in the HHP Showcase, and it, uh, gave off cannabis vibes. How that managed to get into a family-friendly game is beyond me.

Moving on from that... I did a "Draw the User Above You" thing for @xSuperMario64x for the second time a few weeks ago. Bug's prompt was to show his fursona Sterling with his three favorite collectibles (Bluebird of Happiness Plush, Heart Glow Wand, Love Potion). As you can see, I had too much fun with the drawing. :P

So what's happening here is that Sterling's pet bluebird Jay stole his precious heart glow wand (oh no!!! D:) and Sterling's chasing him to his nest to get it back.

You might be wondering why I didn't draw Sterling like I usually do with Crisp and my OCs. I was practicing with a different art style (one without the stick limbs) and I had to try it on him. I even used a reference to draw his head and it came out surprisingly nice! It's a bit too big, but I still like it either way. (and yes, I made him hold a stuffed toy of @/Shellzilla_515's OC Pag-asa. On purpose. If you've ever read some of their posts before, you'll understand why.)

Part of the drawing was also inspired by one of Bug's lineups, nest and all! He gave it a very colorful explanation and I couldn't resist referencing it.

I think this drawing would make a good signature (for Bug obviously), but I'd have to draw it digitally so it looks more HQ. Later.....

This is the last one I'll show before my new OC! It's a sketch I made to practice drawing the aforementioned collectibles before beginning my drawing for Bug. The quote on the bottom is from the message @ZeldaCrossing64 put on my Bluebird collectible (miss you, love) and I thought it was just perfect and very fitting. For a mere sketch. I'm pretty proud of it!

Cosmew!!

I dig space aesthetics and blue/purple/pink color gradients, so that's why I had to create them! They look so gorgeous, not even the photo I took for this post can do them justice. ;w; I also took some inspiration from the Pokémon, Cosmog (which I drew a few days ago but haven't shared until now) while designing Cosmew!

This drawing only shows part of their body and a single starry-eyed facial expression. I'll have to work on more drawings of them later to get a better understanding of what they look like. I'm also planning on doing a digital drawing of them but I haven't fully mastered MyPaint yet and I doubt I can make them look pretty in that medium because of that. Not to mention the learning curve... So if there are any other MyPaint users here with tips...any kind...I'd appreciate it.

whoa, the trippy bob one is so cool! the flower on the eye is really neat, i LOVE stuff like that. your art in general is very nice, keep it up!

I will now proceed to show some more of my new OC Cosmew because I cannot get enough of them. This first one here is supposed to be a reference sheet of sorts, even though it's not really the same since it's a traditional drawing. But hey, at least you get to see what their full body looks like!

Cosmew is a feline-like creature of cosmic origin. Born 13 billion years ago, around the same time the universe came into existence, they can be found floating among the stars in solitude. (To clarify, Cosmew did not make the universe.) They are capable of telepathic communication, but it is used rarely.

Although Cosmew does not mind their independence most of the time, there are moments when they feel lonely. Their dream is to find someone in space to keep them company.

And then this one is of Cosmew sleeping in space! I'm really proud of this one because I went and colored in an entire backdrop, and I'm usually not too good at detailed backgrounds. I also used an actual white GellyRoll pen (which I borrowed from my art class) to add the stars and outline Cosmew since my white gel pen wasn't any good, and I can see why artists like that specific brand. I might use this art for my signature and/or icon in the future...! ^_^

Today is the 6th birthday of one of my friend's OCs, so I decided to draw him to commemorate the occasion. This was actually finished yesterday due to a misunderstanding of the date, but I'm happy to get it done ahead of time.

And if you're wondering, yes, I used @/Yanrima~'s gift box YCH as a reference. I could've commissioned her again, but I thought it'd be fun to try doing this by hand. Ehehe, I hope that's okay... (Don't worry, I didn't trace anything!)

I wanted to wait until the Secret Santa drawings were revealed so I could share some more art here again! When I saw @/Balverine post the applications for their event, I knew I had to sign up. I was soon tasked with drawing @xSuperMario64x's "loaf boys" Solmew and Lumew (this was my second time drawing them lol), and this was the result! I was heavily inspired by Ed Sheeran's song "Celestial", as well as the art style that was prevalent in the music video.

You make me feel like I'm drunk on stars, and we're dancing out into space

Here's a sketch I made before working on the drawing! I wanted to see how they would look before I could move forward with it.

I also kind of drew the "Celestial" text the same way as in the music video, lol.

And here's (probably) my final drawing for 2024, which is Crisp in winter gear! She deserves some since it's real cold out and she doesn't usually have clothes on.

The secret santa art you made is gorgeous! When I was looking through the art reveal I had a suspicion that it was you who drew for xSuperMario64x based off of your other art, but it's also a bit different from a lot of your style so I wasn't sure. Crisp is adorable! She looks especially cute in her winter gear

Happy New Year! Please enjoy this piece I made yesterday. Contrary to what I said in my last post, this is my actual last art piece for 2024! My inspiration for this is Robert Frost's poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay", and you can see the last four lines in the image. (I've also included a version without the text!) It has become one of my favorite poems ever since I read "The Outsiders" in middle school.

To mark my transition to the new year, I chose to experiment with different brushes. My favorite part was the sunrise because I used the airbrush to create a horizontal blend of blue and yellow while forming a hazy effect of sorts.

And I wish I could stop here but there's one last piece I have to show for this post. This is a drawing I made a few days before my "Nothing Gold Can Stay" drawing to cheer up my partner @ZeldaCrossing64. Just a cute drawing of Crisp hugging her crush while Char is feeling all over the place.

If you've ever looked at their art before you might notice that I drew their OC similar to their art style. I honestly would've drawn them the same way I draw Crisp, but I'm more comfortable with how I'm doing Char right now, so I'll stick with it. I did try drawing them like that once, but I won't share it here because it looks... ugly x_x Also...

And then after that we had a conversation about the Dog Man movie. I hope to watch it on my partner's birthday, which is a month away! Wowzers!

I have an announcement! I retired my crochet thread from last year (link in the OP). I have been thinking about doing it for a while ever since I experienced burnout from crocheting months ago. I think I'll feel less pressured posting my projects here from now on, because maintaining two art threads at once makes me tense for some reason.

Anyway, I'll be reposting these event entries here. This one is from the pumpkin craft activity in the 2024 Halloween event, and it's of Wisp hiding in a Jack-o-Lantern.

And here's the stuff I made for one of the activities in the Christmas event that happened after that! The full entry is here. I don't think I did anything groundbreaking there, I just wanted to crochet something to make my partner happy. So when my entry somehow netted me a Special Snowflake collectible, I was pretty astonished! Perhaps the staff must've noticed how happy I am to have them around...?

On the greeting card: the idea to make one came from how my stocking would be stuffed with greeting cards containing money inside them nowadays. (Although I didn't include any because we're in different countries and I don't know how Char would make use of US dollars anyway.) I also enjoy writing heartfelt letters of appreciation to my love. <3

For the cover I wanted something that could catch their attention. I immediately thought of that infamous fairy who follows Link in Ocarina of Time, and how she's all like, "Hey! Listen!" lol.

You may have noticed something to the left of my message; I drew it to fill up the empty space there. The two purple hearts represent our favorite color and our tendency to use it as an emoji when we're chatting on Discord. "Nothing Else Matters" had grown to become a theme song of sorts for our relationship, so I wanted to include a fitting line from there to begin the message, in a way.

And lastly, our characters under the mistletoe...just wanted to put them there...had a cute idea and ran with it!!
