Happy Start of Summer to the Northern Hemisphere!

I'm still fairly new here, and thought I might as well seize the day to make my off-topic introduction with this thread!

How are you spending the longest day of the year? ?
Do you have anything special planned for the solstice, this weekend, or summer in general?

Have you been waiting for summer to finally start, or do you wish it were already over?
How do you celebrate?or otherwise survive?the hot season?

If today marks the beginning of winter for you, feel free to share your thoughts on either season as well!

Wow, funny how this morning it was actually hot at like 4am, but 2 days go it was a little chilly.

I'm spending it as every other day, here it's still hot no matter what :*)

Yay, there’s more time today than other parts of the year. :lemon:

I’m celebrating by having to do internship work this weekend, and then I have another summer class in July and I go back to university in August. Before now I had a summer class and before that I was in university for another year, so I basically don’t get a summer break this time around.

That said, I still have SOME free time on my hands which I’m happy about, but not much.

EDIT: Eh? I guess I did wake up at 8 a.m. this morning which is unusual for me when I’m on break from school. That’s probably the best way to celebrate it, by being awake for as much of the day as possible since like I said, there’s more time in today than there is in other days of the year.

My bf and I just bought a new moped (400CC Suzuki burgman) and we?re spending it cruising everywhere sightseeing!
It?s a bit windy here today, though :( and chilly.

Nothing new, but I finished up a final exam in one of my classes! And to top it off, I have a week off so I can just chill and take in as much sun as I can! It's hot from where I am at the time of this post, but it was actually hotter a few days ago.

The thing I really like about longer daylight hours is where the sun sets. Around spring, I can barely see where the sun sets if I were to look out from my window. During the summer solstice, I can see the sun setting from my bedroom window and getting some sunshine. It's impossible from where I live, but I really like to experience a real-life summer solstice where the sun just stays in the sky for 24 hours like in New Leaf! There's something about the placement of the light source that provides a whole new perspective.

Hmm nothing special for today! I think my cat woke me up earlier than normal today because of the sun though haha.

I wanted to do a lot of things this summer, but I started a program for my medical laboratory science certification, and now I think most of my free time will be spent studying. I’ll have to make up for it next summer.

I hope everyone has a great summer/winter! :)

My sympathies go out for anyone stuck working or studying?I hope you all get at least some moments to lie back and enjoy the season ♥
I have a lot of projects to start and finish as well, but thankfully the longer sunshine hours help with my mood. Once the sun goes down my motivation takes a big hit, so I'm at my most productive this time of year.

That sounds really rough o.o Easier said than done, I know, but make sure to take care of yourself?summers are for sunburns, not burn-out!

Agreed, I'd love to experience the solstice further up North, or maybe even visit Stonehenge during it someday!

The Summer Solstice... As I probably said before, the only good thing about the day is that the days will finally begin to get shorter again.

Ahahahahahah.... I’ve been burned out for awhile now actually. I’ll make sure to take breaks every now and then though and enjoy the sunny weather. :)

Where I live this marks the start of the rainy season (well it should) and I can't wait for rain ; A ; we haven't had running water for months thanks to the drought and it has been suffering

went hiking yesterday and ate lots of watermelon and ice cream! bright early mornings are my favourite parts about summer so i'm looking forward to those.

I woke up at 10 PM the night before, so I actually was only awake during the day hours of the Summer Solstice to try to fix my sleep schedule, lol.

I love summer, I love the warm weather and I love when it's bright all day so I'm really happy :)

summer has started , but you know what day is also on June 21th?

Damn maybe I shouldn't make threads anymore?I always want to respond to every post and then feel bad when I don't have the time! ;ェ;

I was honestly expecting 50% of responses to be along those lines, because you're definitely in good company with that opinion! Maybe the others' distaste for the season goes so far that they even avoid it online. haha

Where I live now it's actually quite similar, and the summer rains should be starting fairly soon.
Most people here love it like you do, but since I'm originally from a region with frequent rain, I don't get as excited?the overcast skies that come with the rainy season bring my mood down considerably. If it's a real storm with thunder and lightning I'm all in though?the more intense the better! ^o^

I'm rarely up in the early mornings, but the overall brightness definitely raises my spirits; it's just easier to get out of bed and tackle the day when it's sunny out!
Also, I had watermelon as well?perfect choice to mark the day in my opinion!

I admire your determination?at this point my sleep schedule is so ****** that I can't break out of it for more than a few days. Good luck to you though, I hope the sacrifice pays off!

That's exactly how I feel! Not that I don't appreciate the darker seasons, but they just often tempt me to stay (or return to) bed. The warmth and sunshine on the other hand make me feel all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed!

Tho sun coming up at 4-5am is meh lol

I definitely love the warmth of the summer. I'm so cold-natured that I freeze if it's below 70 degrees, so I enjoy the warmer days. But I'm also a night owl, so I can do without so much sun. I'm up until very late at night and I hate having the sun peeking through my blinds at like 5am. I could sleep through it, but it wakes my dog up and he wants to go out even though I've only been asleep for like 3-4 hours. :(

I live in the southern hemisphere. so no summer solace for me
ACNL helped me celebrate it XD
