Until yesterday, I hadn't played Wild World since my 11th birthday. I remember that night vividly: I decided to start playing for the first time in a while, but I soon chose to quit forever because my two favorite villagers?Maple and Kid Cat?moved out.
For whatever reason, I impulsively decided to load the game last night.
My familiar and utterly hideous town of Springs loaded. I looked at the map, only to see a bunch of villagers I didn't remember and don't care for (well, Genji is pretty cool). I didn't bother scrolling to the bottom, because I knew it would just be another boring villager I had never met.
I briefly explored my awful-looking but nostalgia-inducing house. I then talked to some villagers?apparently I had previously spoken with several of them.
I started walking around and knocking on random houses, when, all of a sudden, I end up in Kid Cat's house. Kid Cat, my second-favorite villager, who I was positive had moved away. I seriously started to tear up a bit.
Although I abandoned the town years ago, I'm considering playing briefly on a daily basis just to make sure he never moves out.

I also played City Folk about a week ago. The first villager I ever talked to, Lily, still lives in the town. I also still have another one of my favorite villagers, Lucky.

What are some surprising things you've noticed while revisiting your old towns?

That many villagers are still there!
I havent played my old WW town in years! Went to play it, there was weeds everywhere!

I booted up WW the other day and the graphics nearly made me go cross eyed. I’m thinking about playing it again regularly, but I’m already wasting a good amount of my day playing NL hahaha. I lost my 150 or so day duolingo streak when I started playing NL again ugh.

The last time I logged in, I was so surprised to see that most of my same villagers still lived there! And most of them were my dreamies (In wild world, city folk and the GameCube version).
I had expected most of them to have moved away (because it seems when I care a lot they actually move) but even when ignoring it, I went back and my town was almost the same (except the weeds).

I was surprised to see not nearly as many people as I anticipated had moved away, which was a nice surprise!

I started playing Wild World again recently. I haven't really played since New Leaf came out, so my town is a huge dump. I cut down all of the trees and there were weeds and junk everywhere. I also barely remembered any of my villagers.

One thing that was really surprising to me is how sassy and rude the villagers could be. Like, I always knew that they were like that in the older games but to actually go back and experience it again after playing New Leaf where everyone is nice all the time is jarring. Like Lily lives in my town and she's so sassy and a little bit rude and I love it. I really miss when the villagers had a personality.

Whenever I open up my old Gamecube file I'm always surprised at all the lottery tickets I have lol, I miss that in the new games

I picked up Wild World a few months ago after not checking in for years.
I used to play it a looot back in the day, so I remember some stuff.

Wild World has some of the best house models for the villagers in my opinion, and it's so weird to play with the smaller/shorter character now?? But I'm surprised I actually had a decent sized house. I used to spend my bells on everything, but rarely saved any.

I was surprised by how difficult I found my Wild World town to navigate! I used to know it so well, but now I feel completely lost trying to walk around it. It feels bigger somehow. Not sure what I'd notice about City Folk, I dropped that faster than any other game in the series (though I still played it devotedly for a few years...)

One thing that surprised me a lot was what kind of a terrible taste I had by decorating my house back then. At some point, I started to decorate it in a way that I have actual rooms, like a living room, kitchen, bath room etc. However, in the early days of me playing Animal Crossing, it seems that I just collected all kind of random junk and throw it into my rooms without even care if it looks good or not, like without any order at all, just placed it there and dealt with it. So seeing a giant mess is kinda a shock to me, as I do care nowadays a lot more of having a decent looking house with a sort of theme and nice order.

If you find roaches in your house and you step on them, a little roachy ghost pops out D:

Reminds me of the time where I tried to not step on the roaches because of the fact they that turn into ghosts, as I kinda felt bad afterwards when that happened...
