Yes, another one of these threads has popped up again. I've been toying with the idea of getting a tablet to draw with instead of using my phone HOWEVER idk if what I want is a full blown exclusive drawing only tablet or just a tablet that I can put my drawing app on.

I already have a drawing app that I use, ibis Paint X. It works for me, a noob to digital, but I feel like if I had a tablet it would work better. I also want to put other apps on it like Spotify so I can listen to music as I draw. But also Clip Studio Paint looks fire (I know I have to pay for it, and for tablets I think it's a subscription payment, not a one time thing).

I want to get better at drawing so having a program that can handle drawing more would prob help (ibis was giving me problems when I was colouring the tbt fair entries). Also drawing on a phone is annoying at times, I draw small cause my screen is small, and since I use my phone for other things I don't want to use the battery so much.

TLDR- Can a normal tablet handle the power of a huge drawing app and be able to have/use other apps? Can a tablet made for drawing handle other apps on it?

I’m also new to digital art so I’m kind of struggling with the same as you😂. I draw on my old (OLD) IPad Air, and I use Ibis Paint. To be honest I wouldn’t even try to watch Netflix while drawing in case it explodes but I bet that if you buy a brand new tablet it wouldn’t happen anything to it (I would stop doing it if I see it starts to lag). Referring to your second question, if you mean a drawing tablet like Wacom, I don’t think you can download any other apps apart from drawing programs but I’m not 100% sure.
I’m getting an IPad Pro soon and I’m gonna be using the app Procreate. I’d recommend getting an IPad Pro and an Apple Pencil, although it’s a bit pricey, they’ll last for so long and you can use your iPad not only for drawing but also for work.

as far as drawing tablets go, if you're getting one that you plug into a PC like a wacom, I'd recommend looking on amazon for something within the $30-60 USD price range, it'll work fine for drawing purposes. You can try medibang paint or krita for free.
If you're more committed, you can drop like $80 on a wacom intuos. It comes with clip studio paint pro for 2 years so if you were committed to using clip studio to begin with, this is actually the budget option.

if you're looking for more of a full tablet setup, my only real advice is don't skimp and get at least the cheapest ipad (for about $250) and an apple pencil (about $90). You can look on places like facebook marketplace or craigslist to see if anyone is selling used ones for cheap (though as always, be careful about meeting strangers irl).

my current setup is an iPad Air + apple pencil. I use procreate for most of my art, but occasionally I pop open photoshop on my PC and use my iPad as the drawing tablet with EasyCanvas (I connect my ipad with just the usb cable)

This is exactly what I’d to, however Logitech makes a really good pencil called the Logitech crayon that I use and it’s lovely, although the steel might not be comfortable in dry hands.

I would totally get an iPad.

I used to have the logitech crayon and the reason I wouldn't recommend it is the lack of pressure sensitivity. If you don't want to spend $90 on the apple pen, I would try a cheaper one, but it's hard to recommend one better for drawing.

My current app allows pressure sensitivity but because I dont use an apple pencil and just a regular stylus, I dont have any pressure sensitivity when I draw rn.
