tbt marketplace idea pitch

I think you'd need to make the banner scale to cover the entire screen (including covering the banner and taskbars at the top) to maybe stand a chance to be effective

make the board invisible to members until they reach a certain post threshold (maybe 50 or so)

that is all
I think this is a great idea, although I think it's the placement and name people sign up first seeing tbt marketplace not realizing what it's actually for

I understand why users are desperate for attention. Even with the two-hour limit in Nook’s Cranny, it’s still very easy to get buried within the next few pages in a matter of minutes (while in other forums, a thread can still stay on the first page for a few days before it falls out of the first page). But I still think it’s very bad to post in the Re-Tail board or the TBT Marketplace just to fulfill an ACNH request. That’s like knocking at someone’s door to advertise them to shop at Wal-Mart rather than putting up a TV commercial to buy at Wal-Mart.

my idea exactly

I swear most people are Jared's, they're 19 and never flippin' learned how to read
I’m a Jared and I know how to read. :p

Thinking the idea of the thread, I think that would be an effective way of reducing ACNH stuff from being posted.

please for the love of god

there's really no excuse

i think they just see “marketplace” and instantly rush in without fully reading the rest of the sub-forum description :c i feel like a bright fluorescent banner at the top of the page (like the one we had when bells were frozen) would help

PLEASE
I feel like people are trying to sell villagers or items in every thread but the new neighbor network and nooks cranny.
Like. It takes 2 seconds to read what the forum is for. This is why I dont want to trade with newer people half the time. :T

I think it is a good idea to block it off or put bolded text when you open the forum section that reminds newbies that it is NOT for ACNH

I agree that a bright fluorescent banner in the TBT marketplace might do the trick. Short and simple, and maybe put a link to the AC:NH sub-boards.

I have to agree with OP
I don't think a banner will do the trick. Some people refuse to read and just want to post their items.
A lot of people will look right past the banner or ignore it completely.
I think removing the feature completely until the new member hits some milestone would be the best option.

I'm a bit late here, but I just wanted to come here specifically to also pitch that ALL new leaf boards really do deserve a huge neon banner saying that it is new leaf only.

there are literally people coming from new horizons absolutely everywhere and they are infesting the new leaf boards (especially villager trading plaza, poor souls have to specify that their threads are for NL on a NL only board). I don't even play new leaf anymore but I can imagine how horrible it must be for people who do lol. same goes for people on tbt marketplace as well. my condolences.

I can't even blame some of the people, I often see a thread that catches my eye and miss the fact that I'm in the new leaf section. I haven't accidentally commented on one yet, but it'll probably happen eventually because it's an easy mistake to make without any kind of banner to help guide me.

They should probably do something tougher to prevent posting ACNH threads in the ACNL boards and TBT Marketplace. The staff can give them warnings or infractions for posting ACNH threads outside the ACNH boards, and if the problem still continues, they should suspend them for doing that. But, if they start doing that, people would be discouraged from using this site as the staff would be overwhelmed by the number of offenders.

Idk, an infraction is a little harsh for somebody that just came to the site and doesnt even understand what TBT even is. I dont think punishing them will do anything except make them not want to use the site.
