The only, and best answer is: just be yourself. If you're shy, don't feel weird saying to people "I'm shy." Then you can be quiet all you want. Or if you wanna speak up on something, do so.
One thing that most people do, that I don't, and could never grasp the idea of, is caring about what someone else thinks about you.
EVER. Saying something you didn't want to, wearing something, acting a certain way, just to be accepted or because you think it's what people want or expect of you. All I know is how I feel, and it doesn't feel right NOT being true to that. In every way. I will parade through life doing so: jobs, school, friends, family, anywhere else you could go & run into people, and those who are on board with what they see, will be my friend. And if they're not, or reject you, or just aren't interested, that's ok. Why wouldn't it be...? At the end of the night, I always sleep well, and sleep good, because I am comfortable & happy with myself because that's the person I am trustworthy with. Does that make sense?
And you won't hurt other's feelings if you're a generally nice person. Respectful. Friendly. You'll be fine
