The amiibo card function in New Horizons is painful

You need to call the amiibo card to your campsite on three different days and I've heard reports that it's not even guaranteed he will accept to move in during the third visit lol

Nintendo effed up big time with this. It was so simple in New Leaf and HHD, I don't know why they thought it was a good idea to do that.

hopefully they will fix that in a future update.

I tried to call marshal to my campsite to give him to another person like in new leaf. Sadly apparently that doesn’t work either as he just wanted my town and my town only lol
The camp site really needs fixing

Yeah. I tried to get Jambette to move to my island, and it took crafting three items for her to do so.

They really want to force crafting on us in this game, don’t they?

Forcing us to craft bothers me in general (although I do like the mechanic to some extent) but I actually prefer the new amiibo system. Getting them in NL felt a bit hollow to me, so I really enjoy having to “woo” them a bit! I know that once I’ve gotten a villager to agree to move onto my Island it’ll feel more earned and exciting.

Yeah I have been trying to get Coco on my island through the campsite and it's really disappointing it takes at least 3 visits. I am trying really hard not to time travel this early in the game but stuff like this just annoys me!

im kind of conflicted on this. i personally havent tried it, but like Fey said it'll feel more rewarding to move in my bff stitches when the time finally comes (<3), but at the same time it does seem annoying to have to wait at most 3 days for them to move in. i think this game is more about patience than in previous ones, and the amiibo functionality for villagers just seems to be a product of this.

I have to agree with you. It's much more annoying to invite villagers via amiibo now compared to New Leaf.

This hasn't happened to me, but I'd be livid if some random villager moves into the available plot when you're in the process of trying to move in an amiibo villager since it apparently requires crafting them things for three days.

In that case just build the plot the 3rd day so that no other villager will move in automatically

This is what I have been doing. However I have all of my plots set up now, so now this is a possibility.

This is basically what happened to me, I used Beau's amiibo card in two days. Set down the plot thinking I can get him to move in soon. Third day rolls around and I go talk to Beau, make him the item he wanted and asked him to move in only to be told "You don't have any available plots." I ran to where I had set up the spot I wanted Beau to move in too and there was a sold sign saying someone named Knox was going to move in.

It was still an easy fix, just had to get a new move in kit from Nook and go from there. But now, I have a villager I don't want in my town and I can't get rid of him till I either have more people move in or he asks to leave.

do you happen to have other amiibo cards? you can force villagers out like in new leaf

I don't mind crafting multiple times as it gives me the opportunity to learn new recipes, but yeah... The way amiibo works this time around is strange and tedious

I do yes, right now I only have 7 villagers in my town and I'm slowly adding more. But with it taking three days and then another one or two for move in. And trying not to TT as much. x.x; It'll take some time to start playing survival island.

I've done 6 characters now by amiibo, they've all moved in on the third day.

On one hand, I do agree it's more tedious...but, on the other hand, I actually like it. For one, it makes the villagers seem more realistic in making choices. Two, it gives you opportunities for new recipes. Sometimes they request repeats but sometimes it's something I don't have. Yesterday Genji gave me a beekeeper's hive recipe which is pretty sweet.
