I am back with more of The Best and Worst of New Leaf! Last time, I went over the topics related to customization and items. Today, I'm going ovee the many landmarks and what I liked about their features and what I didn't like.
Town Hall:
BEST - this has to the best of ACNL in general. Now you can be mayor. So now only you can design your house anyway, you can do this to the entire town. The PWPs, the whole PWP idea, and the ordinances are really good. However, I feel that there needs to be more than what we got in ACNL.
WORST - the ceremonies. It's not the ceremonies I don't like, I just hate it how Isabelle won't let you hold a ceremony when a holiday is going on. Does she even care about the project? The PWP is more important than the holiday. My worst ACNL experience is still the Café incident on my first town. As a result, when I was building PWPs everyday in StarFall, I skip the days with the holidays, except for Earth Day because I like the globe.
Re-Tail:
BEST - the new refurbishment feature. You can edit furniture series and other items the way you want. Although the Cabin Series and Robo Series are better off as original, furniture modification is what we need. Our towns are continuing to split apart from each other this way.
WORST - the Stalk Market. It's only worth a gamble, but ever since I saw this anti-Reese thread somebody made, I can see the dark side of trading turnips. I don't like the constantly decreasing pattern at all.
The Nooklings:
BEST - my favorite store is T&T Mart. On Night Owl, you can keep it as open as 22 hours. Yeah, T&T Emporium has GracieGrace, but T&T Mart has the longest opening hours. I never had a single town where my ordinance isn't Night Owl while I have this small renovation of the Nooklings.
WORST - what I hated was this algorithm where some items are sold more frequently than others while even some items are almost never sold. I'm talking the Group Mechanic. I know they had this from the beginning, but that needs to be removed the next game.
The Clothing Stores:
BEST - I like how clothes are much better in ACNL than any other AC game, but pattern designing has always been better than clothes in AC, even in New Leaf. The Pro Patterns was a great improvement as seen in City Folk, but New Leaf was better.
WORST - I don't see anything so bad in this area, but the seasonal clothing is tricky when it comes to catalog completion, especially with the group mechanic. Yeah, I may not care about clothes as much while there isn't as many to collect as furniture in-game, which means the group mechanic is worse in the Nookling stores, but it's bad for the Ables and Kick's too.
Museum:
BEST - custom exhibits. I like how we finally got more than just donating to the museum. The Observatory and Café were alright, but they do very little. Now we have more than that. Custom exhibits are much better, but that made Celeste's name clichèd since the observatory was removed.
WORST - art donations. I never found art donations as fun when donating to the museum, and the counterfeit thing made it worse. But what I don't like is that the more you donate, the harder you have to time travel back and forth. That's why I had to gather all the works of art before I created StarFall so I can finish this exhibit quick.
Other Landmarks:
BEST - the Café. Not only I like that you can work there, but as a separate location, it's better than the other locations I didn't mention.
WORST - there isn't anything wrong with the HHA Showcase. What I didn't like is that you can only get model homes from StreetPass or SpotPass. Nintendo hasn't made any downloadable model homes in a long time as I don't use StreetPass. So looks like I have a ghost town in my town too.
All Landmarks:
BEST - Town Hall. The mayoral features was the best of ACNL in general. Not only that, but who's in Town Hall? Isabelle of course. She's my favorite supporting character out of every AC character. Personally, I don't like her as much as the mayoral duties, but that's a silver lining in a house made of gold.
WORST - Pretty much every other location in ACNL, with the exception of the Museum, the shops east of the HHA Showcase, the Re-Tail, and the Café. There are like only one or two things you can do in these landmarks, rather than the variety you have in the others I just mentioned in this paragraph. The Police Station is only for Lost & Found and learning what's up. The Plaza is only active during an event. You can only get fortunes at Katrina's and that's it.
Overall:
BEST - out of all the features related to this subject, the is the mayoral features. You get to design your town the way you want. Also, I like the idea behing Main Street. Rather than having one section in town, there is a place with all the stores you can go to.
WORST - HHA Showcase. With my lack of interest into StreetPass and Nintendo's lack of downloadable model homes after 2013, this area has been vestigial. It's okay if you like it, but I think this needs more treatment. After all, there's nothing frustrating about this part. EDIT: Actually, the real worst thing related was that the group mechanic, but they had that for a while now.
