Day 1:

Here is my house! It's a very cozy cottage, as well it should be, since I designed to look like the "cozy cottage" from the game Don't Starve, which looks like this:

There is a blue rose wreath on the door, because blue roses are my favorite flowers, even though my island's native flowers are windflowers. I planted an apple tree near it, even though cherries are my island's native fruit, because apples are my favorite fruit. Though my favorite decoration near my house is the arrow sign with the "house" symbol on it, pointing directly at my house, just so that there's no mistake that, yes, indeed, that is a house right there. XD

Day 2:

Here is the main room of my house! I designed it to look like a bakery. I love the warm look of the red bricks on the floor. The view of the trees and the sky through the curtains on the windows also gives the room a really pleasant atmosphere. There are multiple kinds of cake for sale in this bakery, as well as afternoon tea sets and a selection of teas and coffees, including a blend made from coffee beans from The Roost. The fruit infused water is complimentary. Customers are welcome to take their time and relax on the comfortable couch in the corner while enjoying their baked goods and beverages.

Day 3:

Here is my enchanted forest room! It looks like a place for a magical, whimsical, perhaps even epic adventure. The autumn colors are very vibrant, and mushrooms always seem a little magical. The floor is covered with leaves that rustle and scatter around where you walk. It feels like there must be adventure somewhere just beyond the trees. Perhaps if you were to drop a coin into the mysterious pool in the rock in the middle of the room, you would be granted a wish. Or maybe a talking frog or a mysterious water dryad lives there and will give you a quest if you call out to them.

Day 4:

Here is my Victorian lady's bedroom! I was inspired by one of my favorite books, A Little Princess, to make a bedroom that looked like it might belong to the main character, Sara Crewe. There is a little Asian influence in the style of the furniture and decorations because of this, though it's meant to look predominantly like Victorian England. There are plenty of books, since Sara loves books. I wore my prettiest dress to pose for this picture, one that makes me look a little like a princess, myself. It's a very comfortable room where one can sit and read and sip tea while the rain patters on the windows.

Day 5:
IMG_9863.JPG

This is my "things that glow" room. There are lots of illuminated objects here, so that it's bright enough to see even without the main lights on. The wallpaper glows in the dark, the chemicals in the science lab glow in the dark, the hot tub glows in the dark, and there are several sky-themed lamps. Even the bed lights up when I lie down on it. This is also the room where I put up the pictures my villager friends gave me. I have quite a collection of them. The rest of the furniture is all the Zodiac set, to continue with the sky and star theme.

Day 6:

11:18:21 Finished Farm 2.jpg

Stepping outside today, here is my farm. I planted lots of every vegetable and fruit that I could find--pumpkins, wheat, carrots, sugar cane, tomatoes, and potatoes, as well as cherries, apples, peaches, pears, and oranges--in nice, neat rows for easy watering. I channeled my Stardew Valley instincts while laying out the crops, even if I'm not a professional farmer in this game. It's still so satisfying to grow all of this bounty from tiny seeds. And then I'm able to cook with them. I love cooking, and having an abundance of fresh ingredients that I grew myself is like being in paradise.

Day 7:
IMG_9865.JPG

Here is my underwater room. Since it's supposed to be underwater, I set it up in my basement, so you actually go down into it when you enter. The mermaid furniture is an obvious choice for this kind of room, and everything has a pleasant, magical, organic feel from all of the shells everywhere. The music playing from the shell speaker is "Stale Cupcakes," which is a wistful, pretty song that I feel like suits the mood of this underwater grotto. I wore my raincoat so that I wouldn't get wet, which makes no sense, but the idea of it amused me, so I did it anyway. ^o^;>

Day 8:

IMG_9864.JPG

On the second floor of my house is my fantasy RPG-style tavern. There's an inn room on the left side, with a few basic amenities that a traveling adventurer might need, and the right side is the tavern itself, with a bar and a table for having some pub food. There's an organ you can crank for music, and there's also a pleasant natural ambience provided by the crickets. There are multiple maps of the world to help adventurers find their way. And the bartender is a jolly little gnome who stands on a box to be able to reach the counter.

Day 9:
IMG_9862.JPG

Here is my seafaring adventure area on the rocks near the beach. It has everything you need to pretend you're on a long, grand sea voyage in search of treasure and excitement. You can pretend to fight pirates, or to even be a pirate yourself, and spout all kinds of fun nautical jargon like "crow's nest" and "starboard bow" and "poop deck." There are no swords or cutlasses, but there is a cannon, which is pointed safely out at the ocean. It's also a nice spot for a picnic, complete with opulent golden dishes, so you can feel like a real ship's captain.

Day 10:

IMG_9861.JPG

On the northern shore of my island, I have created a secret little place for myself where I can sit in peaceful solitude, with a cup of coffee and the quiet company of a candle flame, and look out at the sea. It's accessible only by ladder, and no one else ever goes there. Just me. It's a place for relaxation and contemplation.

And so, as I sit here in the glow of the setting sun, I bring my island journal to a conclusion. I hope that you have enjoyed seeing my house and my island for the last ten days. Thank you for reading!
