A real example of this would be an article that I found in April 2014?s edition of Cosmopolitan, on an actress named Hayden Panettiere, from pages 56 to 60. The first two pages of the article are a large double page spread with the title ?No one?s perfect, we all make mistakes?, a quote from the actress. Directly next to this is a picture of the actress smiling on a sunny day, holding some balloons. I feel that this is rather contradictory, and suits Gill?s argument that pleasure and oppressive ideologies are intertwined and should not be analysed separately. Women will take a relaxing (pleasurable) moment to read this piece on Hayden Panettiere, but the flawless pictures of this actress sort of contradicts the headline of the article: ?No one?s perfect?. So, on one hand, the message to women to remember that ?no one is perfect? and ?we all make mistakes? is a positive one and rings true, but women as readers will subconsciously take in the slim, blonde actress, and associate her with how they are supposed to look and behave.
