the grave theory

okay so i'm pretty sure many of us saw the 2.20.20 direct, and i think we all noticed this grave

so there are many theories to this grave:

the first one being it's tortimer's grave. i am praying to god it's not since tortimer is one of my favorite characters in animal crossing, and it would be quite shocking. tortimer is pretty old, but then again tortoises live for a very long time. (we also haven't heard about him at all or at least i haven't)

the second one being joan. i also have not heard anything about joan at all. first, she states she has been selling turnips for 60 years, so we already know she's old. plus we know that a new character named daisy mae seems to be taking her job

some also say that it looks like there's a rotting turnip on the grave (i don't see it though or it doesn't look like it to me)

other theories say it's wisp's, or even kk slider's (even though i'm pretty sure it's not kk). others are saying it may just be a piece of furniture (which i hope it is).

what are your thoughts/theories?

I think it is just there for decoration lol. I don' think it is actually anyone's grave.

honestly, my first thought even with all the theories that were floating around is that it's a piece of furniture you can either buy or craft. i think i'm gonna stick with that unless it's proven otherwise.

I like the theory that it’s a piece of furniture. Overall - no matter how old all of us are - Animal Crossing was made to be a kids’ game and I doubt that they’d actually “kill” any of the characters. I could be wrong though.

Why would Nook bury Tortimer on some random ass island in the middle of the sea? He'd want to rest eternally in the town he mayor'd. Also it can't be KK Slider cuz he's been confirmed performing outside the town hall. Surely it's Wisp? Or something else...

I think it's probably more like a halloween decoration or something, since we already have grave decorations/furniture in new leaf. killing a character would be really upsetting for me... unless it's some kind of summoning point for Wisp, I don't see any other purpose, really...

I think it is decoration and it tells us a little story: the villager in the orange jail uniform, with a shovel, made the grave cause they killed somebody!

I love the eerie look. That's why I'm hoping we can still get dead trees from dead perfect fruit trees.

Also I don't think Joan is dead, just too elderly to get out now so she prolly owns a turnip shop or an RV turnip shop that'll turn up with a rare red turnip every now and again!
So I bet Joan will have more varieties of turnips to sell this time?

I think it's just a piece of furniture. There was an item similar to that in new leaf, and a lot of people made graves using patterns outside of their house. Animal Crossing just doesn't seem like a game that addresses death, and I think most theory videos/tweets/etc are just to gain clicks.
