the grave theory

I'm starting to think the grave stone is decoration because how are we to terraform around it?

If it was Tortimer, new players would be confused on the importance. It's definitely not any other minor character like Joan.

So it could belong to Wisp, or it could be a backstory to the island, that Nintendo doesn't want to spoil.

If wisp is a permanent resident, it could be his "house". If he is a visitor, then it's something else.

It belongs to Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Hehh...

this made me giggle

honestly though, I didn't notice it and it spooks me to even think about it being one of the characters I love like Tortimer

i still think the grave was meant to be a small tribute to an actual person who passed away, maybe on the development team, and not for a character. it's surrounded by white flowers after all.

in japan it's traditional for flowers for the dead to be white. and all around the grave are specifically white flowers.

it alo could just have no significance and be a little easter egg for fans to laugh over.

If it was decoration, or for an in game character, the Japanese developers could have been just following tradition.

I don't think the game would force decorations like that on you, it has to be something you place.

No, decoration meaning the player decorated the island with that. Decoration does not always = structure

Maybe it's a "ghostly" grave that only appears when Wisp is on the map or when you interact with him.

Alternatively maybe it is something you choose to place, but doing so has the added effect of making Wisp appear.

i honestly believe that it belongs to wisp - it makes the most sense with him being an actual ghost
