we're about a month away now from the release date of the next Star Wars movie, The Last Jedi!

i've read some interesting things about the Taiwanese market version of the last trailer, which if true, is very informative.

supposedly, the Chinese characters used for the subtitling indicate gender being referenced in the the word "you." if done accurately, then it reveals several likely things about the plot of the new movie.

At the beginning of the trailer, during Snoke's voiceover:

"When I found you, I saw raw untamed power... And beyond that: something truly special"

the scenes in the trailer lead us to presume that Snoke is talking to Kylo Ren. However, per reports, the form of "you" in the Chinese subtitles for Snoke's line is for female subjects! could it be then, that Snoke is addressing Rey with these lines?

about midway through the trailer, Luke is laying on the ground, and saying through clenched teeth,

"This is not going to go... the way you think!"

the scenes in the trailer lead us to presume that Luke is cautioning either Rey, or Leia, about a planned course of action. However, per reports, the form of "you" in the Chinese subtitles for Luke's line is for male subjects! could he be about to engage in battle with Kylo Ren (or could it be flashback to Kylo's decision to convert allegiance to Snoke)?

Towards the end of the trailer, Snoke has his arms stretched forward as though exerting the Force, we then see Rey apparently in midair suspension as though being tortured, as Snoke says:

"Fulfill... your... destiny..."

the scenes in the trailer lead us to presume that Snoke is talking to Rey and trying to convert her to the dark side. However, per reports, the form of "your" in the Chinese subtitles for Snoke's line here is for male subjects. Suggesting his lines are spoken to Kylo...

the new Asian market movie poster shows Rey, not Luke, in the top background, and Luke is now wielding a blue lightsaber on the left side of the movie poster there.

my biggest concern about the movie as a fan is that many indications have suggested that Luke somehow converts to the dark side. However, all of the above leads me to now believe that he in fact keeps the faith in the Light, but has been perhaps undergoing extreme self-doubts that have led to his solitude for several years.

i do think that it will be Rey, though, who ponders the dark side. And i think i may see where this trilogy is heading: although the last director dismissed the idea, it does sound more and more like Snoke is perhaps Darth Plageious, who had supposedly been murdered by Darth Sidious. This would explain Snoke's scarred appearance. i also have another theory... It is not Darth Vader who was the "chosen one" prophesied to bring balance to the Force, but it''s Rey! perhaps she doesn't have any actual parents, but was conceived by or through the Force the way many had previously speculated was the case for Anakin Skywalker... It is Rey who will bring balance to the force, by walking the path of the grey jedi... not evil, but not purely in the path of the strict Jedi order either, a more neutral being who can tap the powers of both light and dark energy, and in doing so she will end both the Sith and the Jedi orders and put an end to their millennia-old war.... (altho we'll need one more movie to wrap all that up...)

what do you guys think?

I saw a list of possible predictions of what will happen in the movie. One of them is that it will make over $1 billion in ticket sales in the United States alone. I don't know if that will come true, but let's see.

I'm wondering why we don't already have the Porg w/fries combo at Checkers...

also, BIG NEWS announced by Disney today:

Rian Johnson, Writer-Director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, to Create All-New Star Wars Trilogy

As writer-director of The Last Jedi, Johnson conceived and realized a powerful film of which Lucasfilm and Disney are immensely proud. In shepherding this new trilogy, which is separate from the episodic Skywalker saga, Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.
