Lots of difficult guitar pieces have challenged me over the years... But I just recently asked my flamenco instructor to give me a piece I've always wanted to play... Monasterio De Sal.

I can say with utmost confidence that it is the hardest guitar piece I have laid my eyes on, and I have seen thousands upon THOUSANDS of pieces, many of which were extremely difficult. I could give tons of examples of hard pieces - Farruca De Lucia, Gran Hota De Aragonza, that huge Bach piece for guitar, and many, many more.

Monasterio De Sal is the toughest piece for the guitar, PERIOD, however... That is, if you play it at the same speed that Paco De Lucia plays it. Listen to the UBER-fast scales and the insane technique... You may think it sounds easy, but I did too... Once I got the sheet music, I saw how MONSTROUSLY hard this piece is, and it only made me appreciate Paco as a guitarist even more. You seriously gotta be a genius to perform this piece at this speed.

If the bass player detracts from the technique of the piece, I have a version of the piece where Paco performs it without anyone - just solo. So if anyone is interested, I can upload that too.

The only words I understood were, "the".

Also, are you bumping this thread?
As I assumed. Maybe if you listened to the piece I linked to you'd understand more . . . >_>

Just once. :r

Yeesh, I never knew certain guitars could be harder to play then others!
"The most difficult guitar piece ever."

I.e., a certain tune.

Sounds tough...

But If you manage to get it down, post a video of it on Youtube!

:p

Wait, hang on...is this a sound clip of you playing?

If you have the time, I'd like to hear the solo...

No, the sound clip is of the greatest guitarist alive (or ever for that matter), Paco De Lucia. I saw him live once and almost saw him live a couple of weeks ago, but a snowstorm delayed our trip indefinitely . . .

Yep, I will definitely post a video if I get it down, but that prolly won't be any time soon, seeing as this is just one hell of a hard piece.

Yeah...it sounds pretty insane.

After listening to your "Graiso" or...whatever its called on Youtube, I looked into more of that flamenco guitar stuff, and was thinking about trying to play some of it m' self...My brother has an Ecustic guitar, but he never uses it since he moved onto "electric guitar"...

Then again, I don't know a thing about that kind of music (other than it sounds good

:p )...or if you even play it on an Ecustic guitar.

Sorry for my n00b-ness...

Yeah, flamenco is played with an acoustic guitar, but there are some special guitars that have tapping plates made of plastic (I'm sure you've heard taps in flamenco tunes; that's the guitarist) so as not to damage the guitar. But early on, you'll probably be okay with the a normal acoustic.

I would look for some internet tutorials on flamenco guitar if you're interested. If you REALLY want to start playing seriously, then I would suggest looking for an instructor. Having an instructor that can guide you throughout (especially in the beginning) is invaluable.
