So I had finally donated the 15 items needed to open my museum and my museum was built. I had restarted my island two weeks ago. (taking it slow obviously)

Anyways, the art section is already a part of the museum without having to donate art. Don't have to wait for Redd to show up like before. So that means the museum is only upgraded once to add the Roost, as opposed to how it was before: main, art section, then Roost.

That’s really disappointing to me. I love upgrading buildings because it gives me a sense of accomplishment in the game, and there’s already so few opportunities for that in NH.

It also seemed thematically appropriate that the original museum only accepted critters, because that’s what Blathers comes to the Island for. Oh well.

EDIT: it also means you’re missing out on some dialogue with Blathers. What a bummer.

Yeah it really is a shame they did it like that. Another reason why restarting can be meh for people. Luckily for me I have been playing since the beginning so I actually saw the dialogue and everything but once again, like I said this upgrade seems like it's punishes people who restart or people who are just getting into the game.

I like upgrading the museum from the blue color of the main building to the red and it was both a shock and bit upsetting to see the red building already there. It's less work to just do one upgrade but less doesn't always mean better.

I think it's an unexpected bug, like when Nintendo broke the closing music for Nook's Cranny.

yeah that happened when I restarted and I honestly thought it was a glitch or something. if it isn't then maybe it's because you can just get redd on Harvey's island now?

That’s interesting. It might be a bug that needs patched, or they’re trying to make it easier to enjoy the upgrade.

I don't think it's a bug. Blathers even acknowledges the fact that there is an art gallery and says 'It is currently empty.'

I don't know if he would have acknowledged the art section being completely empty (or knew of an empty art section at all) if it were a bug. I think this was something Nintendo did to make it easier and faster for people to get the Roost without having to deal with upgrades. Still need 3 stars to get the Roost so this little taking the museum from two upgrades needed to one was kind of pointless.

Okay Redd showed up. The interaction with him had changed as well. Before he would sell you a piece of art that is always real for 498,000 I mean 4,980 bells.

Now he doesn't sell you any art when you meet him wandering around the first time. You have to go onto his boat and buy art on there. Although I think all four pieces of art during the first visit are real. At least for me they are.

Now if you will excuse me. I have to go make 3 more temp characters so I can buy all 4 pieces of real art.

I restarted a few weeks before 2.0 released and this was not the case for me. So it definitely seems tied to 2.0 and the fact that Redd now has a stall. When I built my museum there was no Art Gallery. Eventually I saw Redd wandering around town and the interaction with him was the same as when Redd first came to the game. I was able to bring the art to Blathers and then he started construction on the museum.

I feel like it's very unfortunate that they changed this for 2.0. I'm glad that I bypassed the change this time, but it's still disappointing that it works like that now. I'm not a fan of instant gratification in AC...
