I’ve been an AC veteran since the GameCube, I’ve put thousands of hours into every game and I’m fully aware that what I’m about to say is going to sound utterly ridiculous, however.....

Up until the last year or so of New Leaf I didn’t really care about villagers, I didn’t have much in the way of favourites, I was happy to see new Villagers come and go naturally and wasn’t all that bothered who was in my town at any one point, I tried to experience as many villagers as possible and saw moving in and out as “natural” progression of the game,

However that changed towards the tail end of New Leaf, Beau left and I missed him... genuinely, I missed having him around and thought actually I’m doing this all wrong, in real life you don’t surround yourself with as many different strangers as possible, you surround yourself with friends.

So when I started New Horizons and Molly was one of my starting Villagers, followed by a move in by one of my favourites Fang I decided that it was fate that I needed to create the perfect Island with my perfect 10, I then did tons of remembering from previous games, soul searching, googling and Island Hopping in search of what I believe would be my perfect 10. After over 700 tickets (all legit earned from a month of my catalogue shop) yesterday I invited Beau to join my after 286 Islands or searching for one of my Top 5. All that has done is made me more determined to get my Perfect 10, and my idea is to Island Hop every time someone wants to move out and earn enough NMT to get every single one In my own game naturally without buying off the forum or Amiibos.

So I now have 3 of 10, I’m really happy, ive started building my war chest of NMT again today for when someone next asks to leave, its important to mention at this point that I don’t TT so this is going to be a Looooong process but one I’m looking forward to seeing through. As soon as someone next asks to leave I’m not holding out for a top 3, the first one that pops up out of my Perfect 10 is coming home with me and I’ll keep doing the same until I have all 10. Once I’ve got all 10 I may consider requests to move out and trying new people but I’m seeing The Perfect 10 as a fantastic challenge and one I’m massively looking forward to,

I’m sure if you’ve read this far (thanks, I’m aware I ramble on and I’ve had a fair few beers tonight) you’re wondering who the 10 are.....Well here you go-

Need -

Raymond - Cat - Smug - Male
Audie - Wolf - Peppy - Female
Apollo - Eagle - Cranky - Male
Roald - Penguin - Jock - Male
Tammy - Cub - Sisterly - Female
Bianca - Tiger - Peppy - Female
Marina - Octopus - Normal - Female

Got -

Beau - Deer - Lazy - Male
Fang - Wolf - Cranky - Male
Molly - Duck - Normal - Female

Anyone else got a perfect Island idea or are most people happy to take them as they come?

I have Tammy and Marina, neither of which are in my final 10. I don't TT, but I could let you know when they're leaving. I do plan on using Amiibo to get most of what I'm looking for. Hopefully they've fixed the issues surrounding that.

I thought I was going to be fine with taking whatever came for villagers. Now I have a pretty specific list of what I want.

I'm personally trying to rotate villagers out to have a bit of variance for once instead of just picking ten and going with it. However, I do have a list I do want to keep permanently and those are:

- Skye, the Sweet/Normal wolf (obtained)
- Freya the Snooty wolf (obtained)
- Audie the Peppy wolf (not obtained)
- Wolfgang the Cranky wolf (not obtained)
- Kyle the Smug wolf (not obtained)

The other five I will let move out on their own, and let random move ins, etc replace them.

Yes, I like wolves.

this is honestly such a cool idea i wish i tried! i got most of my dreamies from trades, and while its convenient, it isnt very motivating or special if you get what i mean?
I may try and get the rest of my dreamies through just island hopping, im sure ill feel more accomplished

I wanna say I can fit both of those categories? I really only planned on having Cleo on my island before I had the game, she's been my bestie and my favorite since the Gamecube. Once I had the game, I started to take some as they came to me at random, and once I had a few, I started to consider what I still needed to make my island feel complete to me. For example, I needed a specific personality, so I whip out the amiibo cards and good old Google and find out what my options are for that personality, and I find a few villagers I find cute and constantly narrow down my decision to find one to hunt for my island. It makes me feel like I'm doing some backwards math sometimes because I focus on diversity. Male and females are typically even in number, no duplicate species, no more than 2 of one personality and only after I have one of each. The only animal I had planned from the start was Cleo and the rest became a problem solving adventure lol.

When I played my first AC which was WW (I never got to own a gamecube) I had some attachment issues and I wouldn't let anyone move out. I did have some favorites like Aurora, Cube... But even the disliked ones got to stay because I didn't want to ''lose my little digital friends''.

New Leaf came out and perhaps due to personal issues, I don't really know why, I didn't get as ''obsessed'' as I was with WW. I also played just a little of the wii version.

But then NH got me back and I realized I actually want to meet villagers. Even when I island hop I try to at least say hi to everyone, and I'm glad I'm doing it. For example, my only true dreamie was Lucky since I loved him as a child but never got him, but I've learned to love and turn into dreamies characters such as Fang, Sherb and Audie. I didn't expect it, but talking with them in the islands (I also like to save my own NMT as I feel it gets more exciting when you're on your last tickets and you're like OH NO SHOULD I RISK A RANDOM OR NOT ;A; ), made me really appreciate things such as Fang's simple design that actually allows me to focus more on his expression and his... softness (though cranky is one of my fav personalities so I'm very biased)

I don't have the perfect 10 yet, which is actually convenient as I'm finding my friend's favorites and gifting them to them, and also giving away my ''moving villagers'', since I end up loving everyone.

Yes I'm looking at you Olaf, you troll.

I don't think there's a 'perfect 10' villagers for me. For each intsallment of the games comes new interactions and villagers you haven't met before. I used to have 'dream' villagers but after I got many of them it felt kind of bland locking myself with the same options. For some people, having 10 of their favorites living in their town is how they like to play, but personally I like meeting new animals every game. Heck even villagers I had & liked in previous games I feel differently about. If I had to chose my favorite 10 I had in each game it'd be:

WW: Walker, Kiki, Static, Agent S, Blaire, Bella, Snake, Queenie, Lily, Daisy

New Leaf: Carmen, Benjamin, Hamlet, Eugene, Pheobe, Willow, Merangue, Papi, Monique, Mitzi

NH: Antonio, Static, Julian, Vivian, O'Hare, Peaches, Stitches, Marina, Apollo, Cole

This is, of course, is subject to change as I add and lose more villagers. There's some I want to keep longer than others (Cole, Static, Marina) but this time I want to focus on getting as many villagers I haven't had before.

At first with new leaf I didnt care really but then I got into dreamies and I def want my perfect ten wish u luck

I don't have a full "perfect 10." There are definitely some personalities where a single villager stands out, but others where there are 2-3 villagers that would make me equally happy. My plans so far are:

Must-Have:
  • Rosie - peppy
  • Apollo - cranky
  • Pashmina - sisterly
  • Lily - normal
  • Stella - normal

Negotiable:
  • Filbert or Hopkins - lazy
  • Roald - jock
  • Diana or Blanche - snooty
  • Colton - smug
  • Bunnie, Dotty, Sprinkle, Bluebear, or Peanut - peppy (deciding my 2nd peppy is gonna kill me!)

i started my journey with wild world and during my duration of playing, i never had any dreamies as i was little and quite frankly knew nothing about which villagers were available

prior to new leaf’s release, i made a list of villagers i would’ve liked to have had at some point and as i grew up and obtained two other copies of the game, my dreamie list changed semi-frequently lol

as for new horizons, i once again made a list prior to its release and my list has changed. my plans were to have bam as my jock and beau as my lazy but upon growing fond of kid cat and zucker, i’ve decided to keep them permanently. i also planned to have margie as one of my normal villagers but i may change that to gayle and i might also change my uchi from fuchsia to pashmina - i’m not super sure yet lol

that leaves 6 dreamies that i know for certain i won’t be changing my mind about:

skye
lolly
sprinkle
audie
diana
dobie (have obtained him, thankfully🥰)

This is my first time returning to the series since GameCube, so I'm excited to meet some of the new additions! My goal is to have at least one of each personality type with no repeating species. The problem is that I want way too many of the smugs haha. It was really difficult to narrow it down to three! Below is my list so far. The ones where I'm still unsure may end up as rotating slots so that I can meet all of them eventually.

My current villagers are in my signature - they are my original ten, except with Kidd in place of Raymond. He was the first villager who asked to leave when I made room for Raymond, but I need to bring him back soon. He's my favorite in the series!

Goal:
  • Cranky - Fang
  • Smug - Kidd, Marshal, Raymond (obtained)
  • Normal - Merengue (but Molly is adorable!)
  • Uchi - Phoebe
Unsure:
  • Jock - Antonio, Dom, or Pierce
  • Lazy - Beau, Deli, or Lucky
  • Peppy - Bianca or Ketchup (obtained)
  • Snooty - Amelia, Julia, or Tipper (obtained)
