You can only grow perfect fruit trees if the fruit was the original one you've had in your town, so only perfect peaches in your town.

They re for villagers when they ask for fruits, if your villagers ask for apples but apples is not your native fruits, giving them normal apples just.......normal. Others choose to give perfect apples when villagers ask for fruits (no specification) or apples, giving them the perfect increase friendship alot and also chances to get their pic.

Also, you get more bells when selling non-native perfect fruit in your town vs selling your native fruit. The PFE allows you to diversify your fruit holdings so you can take advantage of more retail specials.
