The Resetting Thread

I anm contemplating a restart but i have no friends to keep the essential items I would like to recover mainly my kaiju and super robot as well as my bells the rest i can live without but restarting fresh at the date of game comning out and playing accelerated days I kinda want to. Just a shame I'll lose fuchsia
Hi! Don’t worry, you can also keep some of your villagers!
It’s hard to explain but basically you tell your villager to leave (you can search tutorials on youtube) and when they are packing their stuff you ask a friend to come to your island.

Your friend invites the villager to their island and the villager goes and starts living there.

You reset your island and when you reset it and get a one, you tell your friend to kick the villager out and you go to their island when the villager is packing their stuff and you invite them to live in your new island! Hope it helps

I didn’t explain it well I’m sorry but it’s kinda hard 🥲😅⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪

ooh! how is it going? i’m also thinking about resetting my island, but i have a friend that will keep my stuff fortunately
Will have to grind the money back but i'm doing a time travel version started on the 20th of March 2020

I’m also restarting my island. Haven’t found the perfect map yet though. 2 days and nothing. I also have set my switch to the release date. Not sure why though.

Update on my resetting.

Ok I’m going to try and be nice here. I had just recently restarted my island and got a pretty awesome map, got some items and recipes from people here, got perfect villagers, and had a good time playing.

However when I unlocked terraforming…I was doing a few days at a time to get there…once I started to work on my entrance area I found out that the space between the airport and the resident services was just shy of what I needed.

Now that pissed me off. I had big ideas…planned out and everything. It just made me so frustrated with the game so I deleted it again. I hate looking at something and know it’s not what I really wanted.

Well I’m now in the process of getting a new map and hopefully get it right this time.

Sigh. I know it’s not the games fault but I just had to get this off my chest.

I haven't played New Horizons in a hot minute and decided to restart instead of picking up where I left off. I can't remember what I was planning to do with my islands anyway (and I do not have the motivation, let's be honest.) New island it is! I've also wanted to create an island journal ever since I joined, so it could be a fun adventure! ♡♡

I am going to likely end up resetting. I don't think I like terraforming as much as I thought I did. and my island is completely destroyed and I have absolutely no interest in fixing. I'm even playing Tears of the Kingdom more and more just to avoid the island. lol So I'm going to restart again and get a map that I like that I can work with with minimal amount of terraforming.

I'm good with any map that I get just want apples and a non green airport.

I've never liked terraforming that much either. I did very very little to help with ramps, bridges, and smoothing out some of the cliff and rivers. And I added another pond near my house. I wasn't picky when I started my game back at launch (got it and played it that very day!) so I picked a map that looked good to me and went with what I got. I got apples, but I also got the green airport. While I can understand not wanting something else that's green when the island is green for so much of the year, I actually like how it looks. But if I were to be picky on that, I would have liked a blue one. Before NH, I had City Folk and New Leaf, and both times I started with peaches, so was really hoping I'd have peaches again on NH. But I do have to admit, there's something ultimately classic about starting with apples.

Finally after days of avoiding I finally found my minimal/no terraforming island. The game trolled me with green airports and orange fruit everywhere. I found a map I thought I was going to settle on but I was fretting about the distance between the airport and the RS. I find that I don't like them too close. So a few more resets and I finally found my island.

I said previously I wanted apples and an airport that wasn't green. This island does not have apples. It has cherries. I am perfectly happy with cherries. They not only remind me of the Animal Crossing movie where cherries was the featured fruit but cherries was actually my first ever native fruit in New Leaf so it's come full circle. Also the DIYs you get wirh cherries as the native fruit are actually some of my favorite items, especially the speakers. I am going to have all the fruit eventually so it doesn't really matter what the native is tbh. Also my airport is yellow which is my favorite color in real life so that's a vibe.

I also got some adorable starters Ursula and Dom. So overall this reset was a success.

I'm restarting?
I had to get a new switch and had to restart.

I've been looking for a round peninsula, and a non terraform river.

Been a hot minute since I've posted to the forums but for a while my motivation to keep up with my island has dwindled to the point I've been considering resetting but damn is it daunting to think about. If I do then I might do it on the game's birthday, makes it feel a little poetic in a way. That, and I am getting quite salty at my double south river mouths... makes it hard to terraform the river in a way in which I like.

Just restarted my island, trying to make an "forever" island, no timeskip, no treasure islands, only trading. Im at the day 2 of the "tutorial" and at the moment I cant think of a theme honestly, but im envisioning a rural scenario, but I cant choose between a rural Japan island or a more "mediterranean" rural area (Im taking inspo from Portugal or Italy).

I reset again. I know I know. After a few days on my last island I wasn't feeling it. It just didn't feel like home. I felt like I settled because I was getting tired of resetting. Since this is a minimal terraforming island, I have to be picky about the layout. So I reset again. And today was the perfect day to do so because it's the 5th anniversity of the game's release so it was perfect! This island has oranges which is fine. Native fruit matters not because I will have all 5 fruits eventually and an orange airport which I'm also happy with because it's not green. (The green is too lime of a green for my liking)

And my Starters are Katt and Bam. I know I probably sound a lot less happy with this island than my last one but the minute I saw it on the options I knew it was the one. And when I got onto the island I knew right I made the right choice. The layout is perfect for a none terraforming island with maybe a few tweaks here and there.

So I should not be making another reset post or I might as well just throw the whole game away lol.

I really want to reset, but I won't. It's a shame that the first 30 days are the most fun. We are literally on an island, why can't we fly to a new one and visit old ones.

I have most achievements and don't want to start them over, but it's no fun when terraforming is the only thing you can do and you messed up your island so much that the original design is gone. This game did a lot of great things with terraforming, I hope the next one is a pure improvement of what we have.

I ended up resetting because I was craving the early game, wasn't happy with how quickly I rushed my last island (I started late, in 2024, and rushed it because I was worried people would drop it soon), and just wanted to experience the early game better. I...didn't last very long  After a couple of weeks, I decided to time travel and start stocking up on items from my partner, terraforming, QR codes - so it's all pretty overwhelming again (*oops*). But I'm going to keep this island I think, and it'll be my last island until the next game. I'm vowing that for the next game, so long as I start it when it comes out, I won't feel the same need to rush and will take it sloooow.

That said, my partner and I might start a new island and theme it on the Locked Tomb series.
