Back in Wild World, there is this one town called Boondox, which was a unseen town,
located north of the player's town, described as very poor and uncivilized and you had
the option to donated bells to this town, where you then got as a thanks those feathers.
Cranky villagers back then told you that, after they donated, they saw Tortimer saying
that he's going to eat a steak tonight or got a new TV and in general, there were some
speculations that Boondox is made up by him and all the donations are used by Tortimer
for his own.

What if Boondox returns in the new game, but this time, it turns out that it is actually
a real town, which got, thanks to the donations of the Wild World-player, a rich and
civilized town now and it is also visitable. Kinda like a reference to Wild World and
also a enlightenment that Boondox exist and got all the donations.

What you do think of this idea? I would like it if they would make such a reference,
as Wild World was my first Animal Crossing game and I donated actually bells to this
town, because (yeah, that may sounds silly) I felt bad for them kinda. And probably
some Wild World players would be also happy to know that they didn't waste their
bells just for those feathers (or gave them all to the greedy Tortimer).

sounds a bit boring and weird considering wild world isnt really a big deal anymore at all. like, i don't see the point of it

I don't see anything weird or boring about a new place to visit whether it's referencing something or not. I don't know about necessarily visiting but some reference to it would be neat as an Easter egg! I think many people will remember Boondox :)

Perhaps if they wanted to bring back an expanded City area, they could base it off Boondox. I don't know how likely or even necessary a City would be anymore, but if they ever did that again, it would be a nice touch.

And people say Tom Nook is the villain. :p

It sounds fun! Honestly the more content in this game, the better. Even if it is just a reference to a town and we can't actually visit it. It doesn't sound boring or pointless, its just a fun little feature. Yeah, I wouldn't mind a return from Boondox at all!

I hope boondocks doesn’t come back. It was just a waste of bells and I’d like to see something new and different instead

If they decided to introduce it, would it be kind of cool if you were able to interact with Wild World somehow and it affected the town somehow? Like maybe make the town more advanced (& perhaps introduced a way to acknowledge the WW character?) depending on how much you donated in Wild World (maybe through some sort of transfer process)? I think it would a very unique way of past AC games interacting with the newer game.

I’d quite like to see Boondox return too. The rainbow feather was definitely an item to wear with pride in WW!

I didn't like wasting all those bells on phoney donations just for a feather which we can get multiples from Pave.

I wouldn't mind seeing Boondox, or a reference to it, return in some way. Would be a nice easter egg for 'veteran' players.

I wouldn't like Boondox to come back, but now that the game has a means of measuring the value of your town, I would like if there was a donation feature that would send the money to actual players towns who were deemed to have a 'lower' total town value than the donating player.

After all, after a certain point you've got more bells than you'll ever need, wouldn't it be nice if you could complete a strangers PWP for them? Imagine if you were a little kid who was just playing the game and didn't really have ways of getting TONS of bells, logging into the game after school and finding another player paid off an expensive pwp via donation would make my life.

Of course right now anyone can donate to someone elses pwp, but the aspect of it being just for a stranger and a random applied act of kindness sounds really fun to me! It's fun to think you could make the day of someone you'll never meet a little bit better.

It would also be cool if the expand on this feature the player who received the donation could send an item back to the donater. Like, a fruit native to the recipients town, or a random piece of furniture. I think it would be fun.

Meh all I can see it becoming is a mere reference made by villagers or something but that's assuming that it will be mentioned at all.

Hey, what if Pav? is actually from Boondox, and because of all the lovely donations, he was able to travel and share all those feathers freely in ACNL later? ;P

I wouldn't mind something like donations to boondocks again. It's kind of similar to the savings account achievements. I like having to save up/donate money over time to get a little unlockable. If you don't want to go for, it's not integral to the game, but it's a cool little reward for those who do want to.
However, I don't think it'd make much sense to have it linked to WW. I don't know the logistics of how they'd have to send the data over, would they be able to since WW is so old. Also a lot of people might not have the game and might not be able to get it easily since it's old. I had to buy my copy off Amazon since I had sold my original one a while ago. And with everyone worrying about DLC and micro transactions, having a portion of the game locked behind the purchase of an old game would ruffle feathers for sure.
