I don't know about you guys but I don't really do the whole turnip market mechanic in AC. Obviously its a decent way to get a lot of money but the hassle of only being able to buy turnips once a week then hoping that you'll get the best deal for selling them is just kind of redundant and not worth it for me. Do you use the turnip market? And should you want it to return in NH?

I don't use it most of the time but I'm pretty sure it wil return in NH.\I would not mind if it did.

I can't really see Joan hopping a barge every Sunday to visit deserted islands to shill turnips, but maybe there'll be a more digital version of the stalk market. Like, we can invest in a virtual amount of turnips and keep track of rising and falling prices on our Nookphones.

I'd call it... Nipcoin. Nope, too suggestive. Stalkcoin?

Turnips have been a stable in the series. Can't imagine they'd skip that, though it may be something you have to unlock. You probably have to convince her to come to the island to sell turnips by showing her there is a market for them there.

I could also see them adding an app that allows you to check the price of them daily.

I bought turnips a couple times. Most of the time I straight up forget about them and they expire but I did it mainly to get the badges.

After I got the golden one I basically never did it again lol

I'd like for it to return, I'm just not sure if it would be the same system of Joan coming every Sunday or if it'll be on the Nookphones or something because an island is so remote

I never really cared for the turnip market, but I wouldn't mind a return of turnips and Joan in general.

I want the return of red turnips from wild world, I loved to farm those, but if they made it so white turnips could be grown as well I'd be down (maybe treat them as a crafting material instead of a stalk market and have turnip furniture?)

It was great making bells when you won big, but storing the amount of turnips I use to buy was a nightmare.

If they had special storage just for produce, then sure, bring them back.

I do think some changes to turnips might be warranted. The functionality is nearly identical in New Leaf as it was on the GameCube, yet the way the stalk market is played has completely changed. You were far more limited by the prices in your town as it was unlikely you had access to any more than one or two other towns to visit via memory card.

Today with online play and forums like this one, it's incredibly trivial to turnaround a 5x profit as it's practically a guarantee that someone online that you know will get a massive spike in a week. There's not really any risk involved.

Perhaps the current sell price could be lowered by some amount every time a unique visitor sells their turnips? So the crazy spike prices can't be used by more than a couple people without diminishing returns. Then one person on TBT can't offer a 600 bell price to dozens of visitors all day long. It would make sense anyway that Reese/Nook/Whoever can't afford to keep buying them from everyone.

Well I always used the stalk market to acculumate lots of wealth. I enjoyed it because it was strategic and I like investment in general so it was a fun way to accomodate that interest. So I really do hope it returns. I am not going to become a bellionare in this new game by selling twigs over and over again, that's for sure.

even though it's a great way to make bells i never really fell in love with the whole turnip thing. no particular reason, it just never appealed to me.

if turnips return i'd like to see them have added capabilities for those who aren't so much into the stalk market. i would love it if we could use them in crafting recipes. we've already seen the ability to make a coconut drink. why not turnip-themed furniture?

No turnips in New Horizons because who grows turnips in a tropical island anyway? Turnips should be in a deciduous habitat because too much heat will make them die.

I don't care one way or the other, as long as I don't have to put too much effort into them.

i mean, the whole premise of the games is about how you're one of the few humans in a world full of talking animals so i don't think real world logic is the most important of this series. besides, the islands have been shown to have four seasons (like japan, the country in which animal crossing is developed) so it's not totally unthinkable for turnips to exist on this tanuki-run island.

I can see them coming back. At first I was thinking they might not since they don't tie in well with the island theme, but I'm iffy on that thing entirely. So they'll probably shine.

Oh my god that's a great idea.

And then maybe you could pay Joan to deliver turnip seeds so you influence the price somewhat.

Tbh... I hope they kinda don’t come back. Just for this forum’s sake. Lol I know it’s silly to say, but the retail section kinda devalued the selling of items due to people being crazy rich in game. The turnips made people super rich. Due to this, everyone just started using BTB. I for one love trading with actual in game currency.
