Hello all! You may remember my project, Paradise. Well, I decided to turn my second town into a horror town also, and work on both projects simultaneously.

When I was asking for help regarding Paradise, I received and overwhelming amount of suggestions, many enthusing about The Shining. As a lover of the book, I decided that this would be great for a themed town. But again, I need your input.

Clearly, at least one of the houses is going to be the Overlook. But I'm struggling with the houses in general. Do I have the first a school? Reflected of Jack's past? Then the second the Overlook with visitors, completely normal. The third could be the Overlook deteriorating, with room 237 and the corridors. And the final house a depiction of Jacks final madness, with references to his rampage, including mazes and gore elements.

Basically I need suggestions. Regarding houses. Regarding the build-up. Anything which is better than what I've suggested! Thanks.

I can't think of any ideas right now but I am LOVING that theme!! Great idea! If I think of anything ill let you know :)

Thank you! I adore the book, but haven't seen the film yet (I've only seen clips because I'm a wimp!). It's such a great idea, but I don't want to ruin it! The houses are the main problem at the moment.

Winter is certainly a definite! Hopefully when snow is falling!

Any more suggestions guys?

I have watched snippets and behind the scenes videos, but I've got quite an imagination and horror movies really scare me!

I don't think the movie is that scary. More suspenseful and eerie than scary. That's not to say that there won't be shocking scenes. But really, watch it. You must. You've already read the book, so you pretty much know what to expect.

I personally thought the book was creepier and couldn't really enjoy the last third or so of the film because of some of the differences. (Then again books creep me out more, I enjoy horror movies but they don't scare me anymore)
If nothing else you should see the film for the iconic scenes heehee

I'm not sure about the town. You could have a room with a typewriter sitting somewhere in the middle? Or maybe the bathroom with the rotting lady. Or the murdered twins' room. Uh.
(and a door pattern with Jack Nicholson face through it LOL)

You could even make a legit maze out of bushes outside a bit like Aika village. Some topiaries would work well with it. I think some of the PWPs could work really well for this.

is there a typewriter in the game? that has to be in one of the rooms ;3 all fun and no play makes jack a dull boy...

and the twin girls, maybe use two twin dolls...hmmmmmmm definitely need an axe somewhere too lol

LOVE! Um well you have to incoorporate the labyrinth somehow....outside with trees maybe? Maybe use the standees somehow to create them in the outside environment. The bar would be fantastic. The long hall and the two girls. I suggest using those large bookcases to create this and maybe use dolls. The bathroom scene would be great recreated "HERE'S JOHNNY!". As someone stated, you would have to save your dream in winter. I think there is a tricycle. DEFINITELY get ahold of that. Super awesome.
