Can someone explain to me the difference between yarn, thread, and string?

Yarn is woven thread that makes up a higher diamater and softness of material. It's meant for weaving, crochet, etc. Thread is a very small fiber that is solely intended for sewing by hand (via needle) or machine. Now string, is a piece of rope which is a coiled fiber.
