i assume this thread went to the pits about TT considering a mod came in and closed the thread and cleaned it. so you can't say it hasn't happened here, it's probably just been cleaned.

Exactly! I don't understand people who say they don't TT because it's cheating but then buy Time traveled goods from another person. I feel like putting cheated items on the market only tempts non cheaters into splurging for early access.
While I don't have a problem if you TT, I do think it's cheating. I'm tired of hearing the same old " people just want to play the way the want" when it's cheating a game that's supposed to be played over a long period of time. Animal crossing at its core is game about patience and then being rewarded for it. TTer show a lack of patience and that ruins the entire point of the game. To me lack of patience means the player is bored with the game and it's probably a sign they should play something else or just get off. I don't care if it was to unlock a building early, you're still being inpatient.

This TT debate thing has really escalated on this forum the last few days... I'm reading the same thing over and over. And I haven't even seen "hate" here. Compared to twitter, facebook etc.. so why are we having these discussions here still? Not sure about others, but for me it's getting tiring to see more and more threads discussing time traveling.
It's really stressing me out too. I've been trying to spread as much love around as I can to keep people calm but it seems I'm not powerful enough ;-;
I've seen more posts complaining about complainers than actually complaining, this is like the third thread today... As someone who used to time travel I know how ****ty and unaccomplished it can feel, but people pointing out you're time traveling and skipping the waiting game actually isn't a personal attack on anyone. Your accomplishments will be seen as lesser when people can tell you've time traveled, people will assume you got other things the easy way as well. Just stand by your decision, you've made it for a reason.

I agree I'm here since 2014 or something? This is a nice community. While there is trade here, this is actually the place where you can meet up with people in a trustworthy way. What people on facebook and or discord do, that's not something we want here. I agree fully. This place is to sacred for that. I also think a lot of veteran players are on this forum. It pained me to see someone invited people today and someone stole stuff so he/she had to close the island. That's something that really surprised me, as this forum isin't about messing up peoples islands and or stealing.
I always saw this forum as a place for passionate respectful players.
Tbh, if anything Time Traveling is extremely annoying because of how much extra work you have to put into your game per session. Like, if we flashback to New Leaf for a second, I had this massive flower field across the right side of my town, and I remember TT'ing, checking who wanted to move out, locate fossils/pitfalls/gyroid, talk to all villagers, water ALL flowers, and then proceed to do whatever I was trying to do. Then back out, TT again, do all those daily tasks all over again, but instead of doing them once a day, I'd have to do them multiple times in a shorter span which was extremely draining actually. I was fixated on watering the flowers each day to keep up my perfect town rating streak, and TT'ing stressed me out cuz there was a chance to overlook a villager and have a surprise move-out. That was terrible, and those were dark days, honestly. Time Traveling didn't make me feel unaccomplished; time traveling made me feel burnt out, overworked, and stressed out Lol

All bringing these discussions into this community does is create an unnecessary divide between people here. If real hostility toward TTers exists elsewhere that sucks, and I can see having a thread to vent about it, get support or explain your position. Everything else isn’t very constructive though.
People have reasons for time traveling and others have reason for not wanting to be involved with it. Neither require any justification as long as people are respectful. Play as you want, enjoy the game and have fun interacting with the community. There’ll always be plenty of people playing like you do, and hopefully many others that accept it if you don’t ♥

Ok this is like the 4th thread in the last day or so complaining about non-TTers bashing people, being rude, cruel, abusing people, and using slurs against people.
I and other have not seen this here. At this point, if you do not point to examples in this forum where these vicious attacks are supposedly going on to such an extent that it's a serious trend needing addressing in multiple threads, then this is actually constitutes attacking and maligning non-TTers. Let's stop this needless castigating of other players.

In your previous post you mentioned that you "assumed" that was the reason it was closed, while now you're asserting the absence of posts as clear evidence of abusive behavior.
Nope I saw that thread before it was cleaned up. I won't mention usernames (though I remember them) cuz it's irrelevant. It was one user who was asking the others what they thought about TTing and whether it makes it unfair for the economy, then a bunch of TTers quoting that person and saying stuff along the lines of "you know very well what you're doing, coming into this thread like this" or "this thread is for TTers only - go make your own and get out of this one". All of those posts have been removed (presumably for hostility).
Frankly, I agree that that wasn't the appropriate place to ask those questions of TTers, but most of the removed posts were from TTers responding to that person by telling them to get out or that they're being disingenuous.
I was reading through that thread last night, and don’t know if it escalated further from there, but the only hostility I saw was from a TTer toward a non-TTer (calling them a crybaby and idiot, among other things)
my bad then. i can't imagine it hasn't been happening here at all though, again considering mods have been cleaning up posts.
edit: i also wanna add that some non-tt'ers will say that tt'ing is cheating or that they won't trade w/people who TT. i feel like that could also be causing hostility. tt'ing has been said by developers to not be cheating, and they may feel left out by people who refuse to trade with tt'ers. i don't see many people who refuse to trade with tt'ers, at least when i was doing new leaf trading, however it's the sentiment i feel that could be causing people to get upset. ultimately it's the persons choice who they want to trade with and there's always other trades around, but still.

This is exactly how the problem occurs. You have people who are coming in with negative experiences from fb/twitter/reddit, or just from reading threads chastizing non-TTers for their alleged terrible behavior, and feeling defensive like they've gotta have their backs up as a result. Then when they see a non-TTer, they mentally group them with these terrible people they've either seen elsewhere or read about and see them in a bad light. They feel like they were attacked 'first', so any hostility toward the person in front of them is justified as 'retaliatory' for the presumed ill intent of the person, because they're from the other side.
This is needlessly divisive to the point that it's causing the problems that it's purporting to address.

Okay, I used to be just a lurker but after viewing the discussion here for sometime I felt the need to make an account just to say this.
IF you have experienced harassment due to time travelling, it has not happened here and therefore complaining about it in these forums is complete nonsense. I've personally only seen well argumented reasons why someone would not time travel, which is nowhere near bullying towards time travellers, just blatant opinions. Just like you don't want yourselves to put into one group, don't pretend "purists" are just one group judging the others. I personally don't care how you play unless I get spoiled about major things.
Second. People are being very nostalgic about New Leaf right now and saying New Horizons is not finished. Yes, in a sense it is not finished and I understand not all people are ready for changes - but I would like to believe mature people are open to changes. New Leaf wasn't perfect either - Amiibo update brought a lot of things we still love into the game. And New Horizons is a big change to the series, it is MEANT to be big change to the series, otherwise it wouldn't necessarily be worth it. Give it a chance. Ranting is alright, but I feel like this forum recently has been A LOT more of the negatives than positives.
I might get a lot of hate for this thread but honestly I got tired of just lurking this forum watching all this stuff going on in a community I thought as nice before. This place is not Reddit, Twitter nor Instagram or any other place you might have experienced toxicity in - let's keep this place pure of it. Opinions are free to exist, but generalizing people isn't a good way of argumenting.
