The villager I invited didn't move in :(

First of all, hello everyone! I literally just created an account to post this, hahaha

But I was hoping that you could help me with an issue. I had an empty plot on my island and wanted Dotty to move in. I found a listing for her on Nookazon and the person accepted my offer. I visited her island, Dotty was in boxes, I invited her to move to my place, she called my Resident Services and got approved, bunny-trafficking attempt successful, and all was good

OR SO I THOUGHT

Today I boot up the game and the empty plot has been sold, and not only that, it was sold to Agnes, of all people. Did I do something wrong? And is there anyway to protect my island and my people from that nightmare in a stripped halter dress?

Huh that's odd, I've never heard of that happening before, do you have all 10 house plots built? If not you could try adding another in and see if Dotty shows up in it

if you don't have all 10 houses built then that's why. i had the same thing happen to me, the villager i invited showed up on the next plot like a day later. also unfortunately you can't stop someone from moving in if their name's on the sign, you could always kick them out later tho

After you talked to Dotty on the seller's island, did you exit by the airport? Is it possible you were disconnected or booted? Because if you were disconnected, the game didn't save, and it would be like you never talked to her. That's the only explanation I can think of other than a bug.

Edit: Hopefully it's the 10 plots thing and she'll move in soon!

oh noooOOOO i was disconnected before i left! that's so annoying but i'm glad it's not a bug or anything wrong with my game.
