The first three waves of this week is done, but there's still a few more to go through. Today's entry is on the department store, one of the best facilities to decorate. As I stick with the basic theme, I go back to the traditional forms.

Department Store:

On Tuesday, you saw how I decorated the two smaller shops near the dining facilities. Today, you will see the bigger and better shop.

Those three images you just saw was a lobby. Although they call it a department store, it seems more like a mall to me than a department store. I put a fountain in the center to make the main room look like an interesting lobby, and some merchandise in display cases.

Despite its GracieGrace-like background, this is more of a basic furniture shop. While I had a grocery store and a gas station store on Tuesday, it seems that a furniture store is missing. Good thing the Department Store has that. The only thing I hate about decorating the Department Store is how small the rooms are.

This is the clothing store. In the main series, we were used to seeing a furniture store and a clothes store. The department store has it all. In fact, regardless of how you decorate your department store, it will always look better than Nookington's and T&T Emporium.

Last, but not least, we have the dining hall in the top floor. This is what made me think the Department Store is more like a mini-mall than an actual department store. I always make the dining hall look more like a fast food restaurant than some restaurant.

Opal's House:

The basic theme is more than just limited to colors and patterns. I also tried looking for some other themes that seemed pretty basic. One of them is the Classic Series, one of the old GameCube Version themes. It doesn't look themed. Instead, it looks like a basic theme from the 1800's. While I prefer plots with all 96 spaces usable, the ones with rivers and bridges are always more interesting.

And that's it for today. Be prepared for the final wave tomorrow.
