If/when you decorate your town do you have a theme that you are following or do you let it's own thing? Do pick your villagers out to follow that theme as well?

My town on New Leaf is a mix of a forest and a beach theme. I was actually planning on just doing only the forest part but then I found these cute beach qr codes online. The beach part only starts near where the ingame beach starts. Like above the ramp and at the part where I have water but no beach. I'm not really do themed villagers outside of Plucky who has a beach themed house! So she going near the beach section. The forest part I got these skinny walkway paths combined with some trees and bushes that I plan on planting.

On the island I share with my sibling we don't really have a theme going on. We just put things where you want. Villagers we are just picking the ones we like. There is a lot of bamboo on the island.

i don’t think i’ve ever really had a theme - i just do stuff that i like and hope it looks good together and i choose whatever villagers i like, too ;u;

I don't like going for a full-on theme when I first start playing. I just let things evolve naturally over time, so my first New Leaf town, Sakura, is a jumble of different things that I like. I also like to let my villagers move out occasionally and let new random villagers take their place. Sakura did turn out to be at least halfway Asian/Zen themed, though, because I like that aesthetic so much.

For the first time ever, though, I am doing a fully themed town on my second copy on New Leaf. It will be a Gothic/Victorian town with a blue/purple/black color scheme and all of the villagers will match the color scheme at least and the theme if possible.

I'm currently looking around and your town is lovely! The bamboo you have is great. I actually learned today that you can cut it. Your mayor's house is absolutely stunning. I especially love the basement. I don't really think I've seen a basement like that before. The little pillow where the Kotatsu is so you can sit down. Honestly the whole town gives me the Asian/Zen vibe. You did an fantastic job.

Thank you so much! I put a lot of time and effort into it, so it's always nice to hear that other people like it too. The basement in my mayor's house is actually based on a picture I found online of someone else's room. Of course, I made some changes and made it my own, but that's how I got the idea.

My original theme was gonna either be (when I got a decent amount of items) a really pretty pastel island or a spooky themed island, hence the island name.
But I changed themes completely last month and now it's an urban Japanese themed island, now my name no longer fits xD.

-NL is pretty much a fantasy, celestial themed town, but I abandoned the project a year ago, it still has some of the features, but oh well.
-NH is a town theme with some zen elements and more
-WW has no theme, but it may be just a flower town

I always go for a forest theme except in Wild World cuz there's like no grass and GameCube captures the forest theme naturally with its color scheme and map layout. New Leaf and New Horizons get a lot of cedar trees and mushrooms from me to make it look like a deep, fae forest.

Arghh! I wish I hadn’t named my island bramble it’s too generic!
im going for a music-y theme by trying to get villagers who sing and attempting to get a bunch of K.K. songs to put on tape decks

I'm trying to go for an Oriental theme for my main part of the town, putting lots of bamboo, zen style furniture, walls even the bridges!

I Just like having things from previous game, so I recreated the Dump, and other pwps that resembles old structures, and I've bought items like villager statue or sports car that have the same look of GameCube Gracie's car.
Also I have patterns of Farley, Serena, Frillard, Kaitlyn....

I would like to go natural with using a bunch of cliffs and waterfalls and making curvey mysterious paths. For villagers I just choose what villagers I like. I do try to have diverse animals on my island though.
