Just letting people that they changed this (at least for the northern hemisphere) as I just caught one tonight. So you can either try not to go on at night (if you are scared like me lol) or this could be used to get bells easily. Pictures below.

Yeah and apparently there's also a tarantula Nook Miles island where they don't stop spawning lol

(only available at night and it's rare)

lol kudos to you for catching one! I've attempted like 3 times now and have gotten stung each time xD is there like a method to timing it right???

It seems like they aren't as rare as they used to be; I've seen more on my island in the span of 3 days than I've seen in New Leaf in the year I've played it!

They’re so much easier to catch. Move in slowly with the net until it rears up. Stop. Wait for it to go back down. Creep forward until it rears up. Rinse. Repeat until you’re close enough to net him. Easy money.

Gwahh >.< Did you have to add that first picture?! I startled so much that I slammed my knees up into my desk! >.>'

It's definitely nice for the Bells, but no relaxing late-night strolls for me now—I am in constant fight or flight mode haha

Good to know, haha! Been bit by at least fifteen times now. Caught a couple but they sure love to hide behind structures and trees! (*⁰▿⁰*)

Oh god, I just had a realization. If they're in season for six consecutive months, I bet that means that scorpions are around for the other six!

Guess Nintendo thought they had to keep up the "excitement" aka the terror year-round lol
