Things villagers say that remind you of you

There are lots of things villagers say that remind me of me. One is when I visit a sisterly villager--most recently, Faith--and she tells me that her table is a great place for stacking up unopened mail. On my list of things to do today is to sort through the giant stack of unopened mail on my counter. Ugh. I hate snail mail.

What things do your villagers say that remind you of you and your habits?

There was this one time when Octavian said he liked his coffee strong and bitter and I was like, whoa, that's exactly how I like it too! A lot of what a cranky islander sometimes says reminds me of my own experiences. Probably because I'm an older player and can relate when Rolf complained about the complexity of today's gadgets or when Gonzo reminisced about sharpening pencils with an old type pencil sharpener.

But the game assumes that the player is very young, so when Marlo commented on the rotary phone in my home and wanted to know how long it took me to learn to use it, I literally laughed out loud.

I mean, I grew up with a rotary phone. So much so that when I first encountered a push-button phone, I was incredulous and thought it was the best thing ever. Then one day the phone became something one could carry around... I still feel a little awe to think about how much things have changed since I was a kid.

Fauna mentioned something about missing her parents, but also being afraid they may unexpectedly visit and I could really sympathize. Haven't seen my parents in almost 2 years because of the pandemic... still not ready for an unexpected visit.

Ah, bearing in mind that I'm a behind-the-rest-of-the-world Southeast Asian person, I think the new type is the electric one? I've never used one.

Gonzo said he loved watching the shaved curled bits of pencil appearing as you sharpened it. These days, I imagine a lot of people don't even sharpen or own pencils anymore since mechanical pencils are more convenient to use. There's also the erasable pen.

Yeah maybe that’s an American thing idk, I’ve seen fancy things in actual like, artist studios but I always just hand sharpen the pencil xD, mechanical pencils are also a bit niche and annoying imo
