Things You Miss from Gamecube..

Aerobics.
Being able to ask for a favor directly.
The music (it'd be nice if you could switch between other AC games's hourly themes in a future game).

I miss the acres, since I always knew where a villager would be, and it was easier to find them when they left their acre too.

But I do like open world of the newer games too. Guess both are okay in my book.

I liked that it was easier to get errands from villagers in the GC version, at least it seemed so to me.

The Cherry Blossom Festival was awesome! I still have the game, and love how exaggerated the personalities were.

That event is better in doubutsu no mori and doubutsu no mori + since it's a Japanese event normally- not sure why NOA kept that one and not some of the others *cough* Setsubun.

I miss the NES games, but understand that was their Trojan horse to get people like me to buy it in 2002, and with the VC around now, it's not coming back. I miss the e-reader cards, the going to the island to "live there"- remember you could take things to and from the island, none of this Kapp'n holding stuff for you!! I miss Wisp pulling all the weeds, but I guess that's now Leif's job. I miss the dialog most of all. That really pulled at your emotions the way Treehouse programmed those lines- probably their intent. I miss the balls that villagers would request. I miss the game freezing when you opened your pockets to do something (ie bees would stop swarming while you were switching tools). I miss the ease of getting the gold shovel- for that matter I miss the daily glowing dig spot, or that the gold shovel had a 10% chance of digging up 100 bell bags on a random dig. I miss Blathers blathering. I miss Nook running the store on the first floor, and the Nook kids above him- felt more like a family run business to me. I miss someone HAVING to visit your town, and having to buy something, to get the final store upgrade. This game has seen multiple changes over its 14 year history (going back to its Japanese debut), but each game has its own strengths and weaknesses. New Leaf is in no way truly perfect, but it's the best of the series, and easily a 10 out of 10 game, especially compared to the previous, but that doesn't mean that it's perfect, there are more changes the series can undergo.

Pine crickets, purple emperor butterflies and common dragonflies. Basically my three favourite insects ;-; I know the crickets and dragonflies were kind of "clones" but but...

I also miss the fun little mini events (Gymnastics/Aerobics) etc. There were other mini-features too, for instance asking for favours, balls, catching spirit orbs for Wisp, etc.

Being able to ask for favors directly. Seriously, why did they remove that? And the music. The Gamecube version has the best music in the series, especially at night. ACNL has some nice tunes though, so that's a plus.

just remembering renting it from blockbuster and thinking it was the weirdest game ever...but then my sister and i got really addicted to it.

selling the items through your gyroid.

the ghost.

certain villagers...especially liz. :(

the lovely stereo item...

The things I miss are really trivial. The first game really emphasized how there's always something going on, even when you're away. A lot of focus was on how it was a life-simulation. Now it's about customization, which is fantastic.

I love when Pete delivers mail in the original. Pete delivers mail at 9 a.m. & 5 p.m. In Wild World you would see him flying above the village. In City Folk & New Leaf you see him on the ground. He never does anything but walk around. In the original, if you stood outside your home when 5:00p came, you'd hear him flying and he would drop from the sky and deliver your mail and fly away. You could talk to him, but you couldn't make him stay. A great feature, I think. Very small though, but no other game has done this with Pete.

The sound of the train horn. I think it was every 30 minutes. A train would arrive at the station, wait for a little while, whistle & take off. Again, very trivial. It adds atmosphere.

More villagers. You can have 15 in the original. 8 in WW. 10 in CF and New Leaf. A pretty odd thing to shrink down.

The outdoor music was fantastic. The museum music too was great. From Wild World on, the museum theme has been the same.

Wisp was a nice feature. There's not much to do at night outside of house decorating, nobody is awake at 4 a.m. so Wisp was a great addition for something to do.

This is the most trivial of them all. I like how the light from a building would shine on the ground through the window. Remember that? A very small thing that no other game has done since. Atmosphere, I guess.

I kinda miss how pelly would say "rain, sleet, snow or hail, we'll deliver what you mail" after you maxed out the amount of mail you could send at one time.

Also, the layout of the town + having more villagers. I really like blathers' dissertations on the various things you found.
The random places that campers/npc would plot their tents or igloos in the middle of your town. They just didn't give a darn.
I liked that there were more dialogue options and ways to interact with your villagers, especially the option to run errands because it's a little annoying just having that mixed in with normal conversation. Getting stuff like gameboys/handkerchiefs is so cute to me.
The music is super cute?? It's very different than any other animal crossing game since, I think it really captures the mood of each hour perfectly.
There was so much more to do with nook's, I think, than with any other game--like you could enter the monthly raffles.
LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING ABOUT THE CODES IN THIS GAME: I LOVE THE SECRET CODES YOU COULD PASS ONTO NOOK.
Dropping multiple items at once; this would be so helpful with online trading in newer additions.
I also miss the random letters from mom, there didn't even need to be a special occasion for her to write. It's one of the cutest features to me.

Remember that little ghost, Wisp? You would have to stay up 'till 12:00 AM to find him! Sure he made an appearance in City Folk/Let's Go To The City, but he just needed a lamp, not five paranormal ghostly figures like in the GameCube version!

I miss the villager personalities, too. I started playing again the other day and I was asking Rhoda if she had any favors for me. She had one, but I was pressing the B button too fast and I accidentally declined... So she called me an idiot and told me to "stop breathing her air" . .

I've thought of another one... The monthly lotteries where you had to collect tickets with every purchase throughout the month xD That was an awesome feature, made me complete my catalogue, and sometimes won you rare furniture or even free NES games :D They should bring that back in the future :D

I miss that freaky fairy rat who would come to your fountain
the first time I saw her I literary screamed out loud.
but still it was a cool feature
