Thinking of reseting...

Hello!

I seriously love and enjoy my island but I came to conclusion that I'm second guessing (not hate) my island's name, It's currently called Divine. And I think it's fine but I don't like the fact it's an adjective and since I have OCD, it's seriously giving me a headache. I prefer something original. So I thought, why not ask other players?
I was thinking to start a new island and call it Divinia with same layout and everything. I think the name is original and it means Divine but as in a place name form, get me?

By the way, there isn't any concept behind the name other than Godly themes, which I'm inspired and adore, I think my island is flexible on terms of themes.

i like both names, but if divine is bothering you, i say go ahead and reset! do whatever will make you the happiest.

Divinia. The other ones look like you're trying too hard. That's just a personal opinion though.

I named my island Calypso and at first didn't even know where I came up with it. Then I saw the bottled beverages at the store I work at and thought "Oh, that must be where I picked it up!" And then I came across K.K. Calypso and was devastated that I managed to name my island after one of Slider's songs without realizing it. But then I was like whatever, it's fine, nobody really cares.

Please don’t kill me, but I’ve actually reset the game then time travel just for the sake of the island ‘s name, half way doing my tasks to try reach my previous state, I felt guilty and wised I haven’t done it.

I’ve reached out to Nintendo to recover my save data and they did, lesson learned. This is a lot of progress and cannot be payed back by simply starting a new island. Phew! I blame it on the OCD though.

Just remember something. As someone who has restarted several times to get different maps, whatever map layout you get will be based on what you prefer your island to be like. Its important to note that whenever you restart your airport color, furniture variants, and your native fruit/native flowers will change as well, so you may not have the same coloring as you did on your old island. Also the airport, resident services, the rocks, and the dock will change locations. It took me a lot of restarts to get different native fruit on the 2nd island but it worked out in my favor.

Also be prepared for the long tutorial you're going to have to deal with going forward. Since I am not sure if you forgot but all those bells and nook miles you had are gone and you'll have to build back up from the ground up to start doing more on the island. If you would've saved your bells, tools and nook mile tickets then you would have an easier time. If you didn't do that then its going to be hard for you.

Lastly, when you finally complete your new island your experience is going to be the same, just working on your island to get to 3 stars to get KK over to your island and after that you can design your island however you see works for you. Don't be too hard on yourself with design I know sometimes when we compare ourselves to other people's island we tend to get stressed about it, but remember as long as you are happy with how you design island you should not feel too pressured.

dont worry about it too much. i think divine is still pretty unique!
also i really hope we will get some kind of reset bonus with the next update, like they did in new leaf so that we can keep some stuff like bells, our catalouge and diys. that would already help a lot! i always dread restarting because of that!

That’s so sweet of you, I really appreciate it.
I had a headache after resetting, and I felt so guilty. This is how it’s like living with OCD.

Fun fact: I actually named my island after my debut single, Divine Justice.
