So, is anyone else have a problem when you're fishing and you keep getting the same on fish like black bass? I need to find a arowana but I can't find but I'm being spammed with black bass to the point that I getting annoyed?

I know the fish I'm looking for is uncommon but come on, I've spent literally 2 hours (I'm central time and it's already 6:49pm for me, I've been at this since 4).

I just need this last fish and then I'm done...

Maybe I'm just inpatient.
What is your thought about this? If there is monthly update, I think they need to ease up on the common fish.

It’s annoying but I’m used to this. It has been like this in NL. I honestly have stopped fishing and catching bugs even though I’m still missing some from the museum. I’m just taking the game at my own pace and doing what I enjoy most (when I feel like playing). I think people would complain if completing the critterpedia was too easy. I think I’m fine with how it is.

In new leaf, I guess I got lucky because I didn't have this problem, but I see where you're coming from.
I should be going at my own pace but not time traveling and being in at the beginning of the game, there's nothing really much to do.

I don't know, maybe it's my perfectionist personality talking.

Thanks for putting your input on this.

I never finished any of the museum sections for any of the games in the first few months. I usually complete them over the course of the years. Gives you something to do. I never really followed any of the other games when they came out on media/forums, but this one seemed to have everyone on a race to complete everything right away.

I don't know. I just feel like AC is more of a game that's supposed to be chill and less about a goal post. That's just me though.

My play style is a lazy completionist. I like completing and collecting but on my own time, hence the lazy aspect, lol.

I'm pretty used to the grind where it's doesn't feel like one anymore. It's definitely annoying but I do like difficulties in games even if they infuriate me.

I dont really worry about it, but my friend told me, that if you fish in the sections where the ocean, meets the river, you'll get a rare fish, so keep an eye out for fish there

But also be sure about the time of day, and weather. Also where it spawns. Some only spawn in very specific locations

I think the spawn rates for NH are fine. Maybe I just got lucky but compared to the older games I found it easier to catch the rare fishes in this game. The only ones I really had trouble with were the dock fishes but the bait helped with that. I noticed that I also caught them when I wasn’t grinding for them and just randomly decided to fish when I felt like it. So just take your time with the museum collections and be leisurely about it. Believe me, once you complete it, there’ll be nothing left to do unless you really love decorating or can enjoy the simple day to day activities.

Yeah, I think it's just me, I'm not used to playing games that are slow, and I do need to breathe in and take my time.

Thanks everyone.

I mean really what you're proposing isn't for the common fish to become less common, but for the rare fish to become more common. which defeats the point of them being rare to begin with

plus, the spawns are fine. some like the tuna or stringfish can be a bit of a pain, but that has to do more with their spawn locations over spawn rates

I mean, it's been like this since the first game- some fish are obnoxiously common, some are obnoxiously rare. I can't imagine they're going to change it now. I mean, at least we have fish bait to help a little.

But I think it makes it more satisfying and exciting when you do catch the fish you want!

Well yes.
Like I said, it's just me complainig about it, but it is fun when I finally get that fish that I'm searching for.

I’ve got got a couple of fish left to catch and honestly I can’t even be bothered trying to catch them. I spent hours and over 500 bait last year trying to catch the Mahi Mahi and it’s just not worth it. Not only is it boring and tedious but with tools breaking it just makes it unbearable. I always enjoyed fishing in previous games but now I just hate it and it’s another one of the many reasons I can only stand playing the game for 15mins at a time.

i have arowana on my island right now however they are rare *as always* as you know! dont toss bait for them. i think you have to catch a certain amount of other fish before they even spawn *and ive found this theory to be true of bugs and other rare critters*. just keep fishing and eventually those elusive *expletives* will finally show up. if you miss the first catch though youre on for another 10000 years of trying to fish for them *and that includes all the other rares as well*

SIGH

i feel your pain lol! i Finally caught the scarab beetle after 21 days of hunting for it. i caught it tonight and now im tossing confetti lol!

the rate that they give you common fish is annoying though so i get you there too. if i catch one more stinking sea bass....
