Okay, so I admit we got a cool song, but the updates have sucked lately... Today we were given a tutorial on something we already knew about, the only new thing was the whole spawning with a final smash deal, which honestly sucks. I'm going to turn just about everything in Brawl off when it comes out, they're trying to make this a casual game where anyone can play and win, but that's not what Smash Bros. should be. It's a competitive game that takes practice, and it should stay that way. It's a pet peeve of mine when a game puts in so much of a luck factor that any noob can come in, win, and rub it in a pro's face. (this happens to me a lot, because they insist on having hammers and pokeballs only because it's "fun", they only have fun when they win -_-)

To be honest, I don't like where they're taking brawl. If it comes out and is too casual, I'm gonna sell it and just stick to melee, because if they keep going this direction, Melee is going to be 10x better than Brawl, because it'll just be a luck game.

R.I.P Smash Bros...

Dude, WTH?

Seriously stop whining about the updates. Sakuraki SAID he wouldn't give everything away with the updates. Seriously get a grip, Brawl is already beating Melee and even if it is a little bit more casual, that's a good thing!

Agreed with Odd, you guys overreact.

Turn Final Smashes off if you want, I don't really care.

I'm an item person in Smash Bros. I think they add to the craziness of the battle. That said, you can tell I'm a casual SSB player having only played it a few times but loved it.

Also, it was originally suppose to be out really soon, so...

Oh, and don't forget no other game has ever done this before (I believe).

 Turn off items, problem solved.. And it seems you're basing this off barely any information. Have you played the game yet?

sure I could turn them off but just the fact that Ninty wants to make this a casual game sucks. It's just going to get more and more casual until it isn't competitive at all no matter what you do, it's not so much where it is right now, it's the direction that Smash Bros. is being sent because of this.

Casual? What's the Subspace Emissary!
..and what's the rest of the game?

Items, ATs, Pokeballs, Final Smashes, they're trying to make this game so that any noob can win. Competitive games don't work like that. You have to be good to win.

Sure you can turn stuff off for NOW, but Ninty is gonna just keep on sliding it over to Casual until the items are there for good, there will be more and more gimmicks, and totally kill competitive gaming in Super Smash Bros.

Dude, seriously...

Brawl is both Casual and . They are simply trying to appeal both markets in a game that will sell millions instantly.

Besides casual gaming is the future of gaming, and will take over in a few years or so.

Ummm.... if you really don't like extras, turn them off. It doesn't have to do with casual vs. not casual. A lot of people play SSBM without items.

Sure the items give casual gamers a bit of help, but with more skill come better use of the item. Like the laser sword; anybody can hit A every time somebody comes near, but someone with skill can judge when to start charging the attack to hit the opponent. Anybody could whack away with that fan in Melee, but someone with skill would be able to time a toss so it hit the opponent, which does more damage. Also, items force "pros" (BTW do Pro SSBers make $3,000,000 a game like pro football players?) to step up their game a bit more.

Plus, the fact that you have to break open the Smash ball is a good sign. This means that "pros" will have a better chance at getting it, becuase they use their skills to break it open before the casuals.

well crap. I hate casual gaming xD

you don't get what I'm saying, the next few smash games are gonna keep going downhill until there IS no turning it off, it's just getting more and more casual and less and less competitive, so it's gonna become fully casual. Btw I play without items

I think they said this was the last Smash Bros game, just so ya' know.

And yeah, the updates haven't been the best, but in a way, thats a good thing. You don't want to know EVERYTHING about the game before you get it, do you?

Actually they said Melee would be the last one, if I call correctly.

"Also, the items that are turned off in the item switch are also determined by lottery."

see, over only one night, one more step towards perm. gimmicks happened. Now, online, chances are you'll run into a bunch of casual gamers that want all items on high, and you just have to hope that your settings will be chosen. This is just one small step to having gimmicks that you can't control. This may not seem like a big deal now, but look into the future a bit, think about what direction the game is going. This game is becoming casual. At a glance you can obviously realize that they're trying to make it more casual, and consequently, based almost 50% on luck.

No they aren't. You're worried about a problem that doesn't exist.

Anyway, @ everyone talking about this / Mele being the last one. What you're thinking of is Masahiro Sakurai saying Mele was his last smash bros, and now saying Brawl will be his last. He's just one guy... doesn't mean the whole game will end. Although, I'm not saying it's not possible.

I REALLY don't see what you guys are talking about... Well, some of you.

SSBB is ANYTHING but casual. Sure, a lot more people are going to be able to play it, but seriously... look at all the fan service! Saki from Sin and Punishment? A song from a Japanese-only GB Color game?

Casual gamers will have no idea what all that stuff is. It's obviously all for hardcore gamers.

That's the reason I love the Smash series. It crams things from all corners of the Nintendo universe (now including 3rd party games). It's like a nostalgic family reunion. Casual gamers won't fully appreciate the game, only hardcore gamers will.

I completly agree. Yes there may be a few aspects that make it appeal to non-gamers' and casuals however I really don't think any of them would know too much about the depth, or even all of the characters. If I were to ask any of my GAMER friends they wouldn't know who Ike, Roy, or Marth were other than the people in Smash Bros.
