So I have never time travelled, but I am tempted to so i can have my trees ready and finish my orchard. But I have a couple questions I was hoping someone could answer:
If I travel forward to finish the orchard, and then move back in time, will I lose my progress?
How do you actually time travel? ( The actual steps)

you go into my system settings on your main switch screen... then go to system & the date and time... then if you have ' synchornise clock via internet' on, turn that off, the go to date and time, then you can TT by changing the date to whatever date you want :>
You'll lose your daily streak at the nook terminal if you have one. But it doesn't give that many nook miles anyways and only takes a week to get back up.
That's the only thing you'll lose if you do it.
And like Sally said, you change the date via the switch settings

As a former time traveler I would say go for it, but really be careful if you have turnips because if you time travel backwards they start to spoil, also any flowers you had watered on your island gets restarted.
I time travel frequently. Just don’t go backwards with turnips or they will rot. That is very important to remember! You won’t lose your progress if you go backwards.
@RoxasFan20 and I posted the same thing at the same time.

You can go forward with turnips, just not backwards. However, don’t go forward past the very next Sunday. They’ll rot after one week. To be safe, I would wait until you don’t have any turnips, if you do have turnips.
I am sure there are better TT tips buried here in the forums, but as a TTer, I would add that there aren’t too many negative effects. On top of watching out to avoid spoiled turnips, also be careful of TTing when a villager moves out/in— it has been observed that a graphics glitch can arise if you TT more than a day while the process unfolds. It’s best practice to move forward only by a day for the 2-3 days it takes to fully move villagers in and out of a plot.
Also, if you time travel beyond several weeks, just note that your island‘s weeds and flowers will multiply, and roaches will tale over your house, so be prepared to do a lot of gardening/pest control!!

Yes, I’ve experienced that glitch. This is how my Biskit and Kyle have the same house. Biskit has Kyle’s house exterior. It’s a little weird to me, but I’ve gotten used to it.

What about events? If you pass an event and then back up to the actual date, will the event still happen when it is suppose to? (I just TTd and it worked great but there was something with Blathers and stamps that’s suppose to start tomorrow, will that still happen?)

No. Not all events will happen, if you skip over a day with a ceremony you wont be able to do it, this also counts for some one day events

Time travel has its ups, and it definitely has its downs. I time travel to gain friendship, move a villager fully in, and of course to cycle
Your not a bad person if you time travel, its just how some people play the game. So, thats fine.
Time travel is fun, you get alot more done, and ypu csn easily complete tasks that normally take 2-4 days quicker. As well as depending on how far you plan to go, the famous *Bed head* hair style can be obtained too.
But, there are some other, more personal things to take into consideration. That is the relationship with your villagers
Your villager's birthdays are a great way to obtain their photo, so if you plan to time travel far, then make sure its not past someones big day, or on it. They will sometimes remember you missed it if you talk to them
If you time travel for a long time, and neglect to speak to your villagers, they may guilt trip you with some dialogue. However if you revert back to your regular day they wont remember you skipped.
For me, my villagers are very special, and so I always think about the above when im time skipping.
Another thing thats minor, but should still say is your shopping schedule will be messed up. Say you buy a hat, and then time travel a day back, or back to your regular time, and it wont be there.. you gotta tine travel ahead a day, or wait till the next day to get your new hat, since the game hasn't registered that you've gone forward a day
Im in no way against it, I just thought id throw in a few things to concider! Happy time traveling!
